So found my old login, have not posted here in a while. I have WITP, WITPAE, WITE and now WITW. I have never gotten into these games as much as I would have liked since the sheer amount of detail tends to be overwhelming.

However I have been spending a lot of time with WITW and have to admit it seems to hit a sweetspot. The number of ground units is about right so you can churn out turns quickly and you can automate or micromanage the rest to your heart's content. I particularly like how the air war is handled since it is a game in itself.

Kudos to the Devs.

I love the air war system and long for the day we get a naval equivalent. Perhaps someone will finally do The Battle of the Atlantic justice. I understand why and agree that a campaign in the West might get rather dull in the '39-41 timeline, but given that we have air-only scenarios, adding a naval component could make for some really fun early war waging, even if only in scenario form. Of course, combining this with the Eastern front in one massive War in Europe campaign would probably force me into early retirement and risk my marriage. Not that I'd complain.

I tend to lurk more then that I log in, popped a question on the forums a few months back when I was sinking my teeth into the game playing a larger scenario for the first time. Now with summer high season at work in full swing I'm a bit stressed for time when it comes to games of this scale as at the end of the day my brain feels like it's burned out.
Does anyone know where I can get spares?

So yeah I think the decline of forum activity can also be contributed to people enjoying their Summer holidays and the less fortunate among us like me who work in the tourism sector who have to work harder during the high season

I'll be glad when the high season is over and the weather turns the heat down so I can get back at getting my WW2 wargame fix sorted. Got a 4th Supreme Command PBEM game planned with a friend of mine lined up after we finished to preliminary PBEM short scenario game to decide who will play as the Germans.

(also blame your manual for being so good I don't really have a lot of questions to ask on the forum )

After 8 months of Command: Modern Air / Naval Operations, I'm ready for some WWII. WitE and WitW are on my schedule for the fall and winter.

So definitely not "dead" for me.

I certainly can't speak for everyone, but I prefer to play against the AI.

me too, I prefer to play versus ai, no time enough to play versus a human, moreover the ai isn't bad, this wargame is fully enjoyable playing with ai (at least playing as allied), in this manner it's better than older Grigsby's monster wargame as witp and wite.
So, I often read this forum, but almost never I posted anything, no need to search for opponents, no need to ask for info because I can understand all the game by mean of the really detailed and good looking hardbound manual, and of the intuitive user friendly modern GUI, so I think here is a so low posts rate because many players are like me, just have no things to say, only have to get Berlin before soviets

If there are no posts for several days on main game forum, it does speak volumes.

Compare to WitE or WitP-AE forums.

Which itself says there is no working community. I am not disparaging the game and obviously many are same people who basically also play WitE like me.

BUT, if people are not regularly asking questions or offering opinions about differing things....that is telling.

There's always been less discussion here than with WitE and less AARs, and I think, more than with other games, WitW tends to be played against the AI since one player has the initiative for the entire campaign. I also think there is less to argue over and discuss than with WitE (being it is based on the existing WitE engine). I can assure you sales are not dead, although WitE has benefited by being on Steam the past year. Any day the last released public beta will become the new official version and a new public beta will be released (we thought it would be out in late September but it was delayed due to Matrix production delays). However, since no balance issues have come up, the new public beta just fixes a few bugs that have been spotted over the summer. From our perspective it's nice to have a game that doesn't require a lot of constant adjustments and redevelopment, although it's always nice to get feedback and see AARs of the game.

Thanks for your insight. One of my reasons for my post was to trigger things like this, I hope it was not considered offensive.

I come from crowd of WitP and WitP-AE that have gathered almost fanatical cult following.

No plans for anything at the moment. The focus is on WitE2. Once that is done, we will have a system that theoretically could provide scenarios all around Europe and North Africa. Are there any scenarios you'd like seen covered?

Hey guys, I now own WitW, bought it yesterday on steam. I'm playing WitE too, (grabbed a copy for five bucks in a local mall in Germany and got both expansions from steam) but only against the ai. And I got to say, both games are very different from every strategic wargame I ever played before...They're ultracomplex. They're absolutely historically accurate. That's why they're so much fun. I do not think I can imagine how complicated and nervewrecking it must have been to put these little monsters together... But please Matrix, why don't you make the next game cover the whole second world war? Perhaps because it would take forever? Please explain...

I want to second this. The air war in WitW goes very well. It will certainly help WitE2 and it would be great to see something equally good for the naval parts of the game. And then, maybe in 20 or 30 years, given 2by3's pace of releases, we MIGHT get a new War in the Pacific?
