I'm sure I missed this, but how are you gentlemen defining victory in this match? I see you are getting close to the magical 2:1 VP ratio.

And thanks for bringing up night sweeps. No matter how long I play this monster, something heretofore not imagined pops up now and then.

Cheers,

My kind of contest: You battle intellectually over more than three years and in the end it all comes down to who can drink the most!

It is almost like Star Trek, where besides all the phasers, faster-than-light-travel, spaceships and politics in the end the fate of the Galaxy is decided by fist fight of captain Kirk against a forum regular.

Yeah, but Kirk cheated and improvised a cannon and homemade black powder. Definitely not part of a fist and claw fight!
Can't trust those diabolical humans - especially the Canadian ones!

We attack at Cebu tomorrow with another rendition of the mini bombardments (1x CL, and 3 x DD). Cagayan is finally secured.

Air losses. We knocked out at least 28x Ki-84r Frank factories at Maebashi for a price of 27x B-29-25. Manpower at that location is only 3 so presumably Fires would be less effective, thus we targeted an individual factory cluster.

Maebashi. Looking for tomorrow's Recon to show additional factories damaged. Bombers reported 27 hits, which might translate into several times as many factories damaged.

China east. Nanking will be cleared tomorrow or the next turn, then various base forces in Strategic move mode at Wuhu will move in. We have armor and infantry on the way to Suchow and dot-base Kweiteh (to the west of Suchow) that will clear those bases. Base forces will then be able to rail to Chengting in the north and provide air support, notably fighter cover, to the ground units already there. Haichow (east of Suchow) is lightly held and will also be cleared to provide a size 3 airfield.

Home Islands east. Muroran airfield is now size 7 + 24%. When it makes size 8 we will bring in a number of B-24 groups, then begin operating them when the field makes size 9. Lots of engineers are on site so that increase in size should take less than 2 weeks. A number of P-38 groups have just transferred there and will fly escort with the next series of strikes (according to their range, of course).

That's my impression of the way it goes - you may get fires in the 100s of thousands initially but most of that is housing. Most of those fires go away quickly and the fires that burn for days are in the industrial plants, so a small residual fire can still cause damage to industry.

Nanking is secured. Imperial air attacks near Chengting disrupted our armoured attack but they did well anyway. A zombie band destroyed near Ankang.

The infantry and artillery at Nanking, now done cleaning up the place, are heading for Hangchow. The armor from Nanking is still enroute to Hankow and the Suchow area.

Chungking is now invested with 1,600 AV and of course a lot more is on the way.

Cebu is ours.

Our forward units near Chengting are still getting hammered form the air and are in no shape to attack. Within about 4 days they will have a light AA unit (40 mm equipped) in hex to help them. More significantly, we might be able to rail air base support to Chengting within a week and then provide fighter cover.

All the ground action was at Cebu today.

There are still very small Fires at Tokyo but no additional damage.

SoPac Command HQ is unloaded and in Combat mode at Bangkok. No supplies have yet moved from Singapore, but the distance is probably "long pull" meaning one time per week.

Air losses. P-47N sweeps over Maebashi led to smaller battles today but were very lopsided. Recon shows increased Imperial fighter strength at surrounding bases, and Nagaoka airfield, next door, has expanded to size 2.
