And the previews...

Absolutely beautiful Gary.

Here's a full wish list for Focus Pacific. Anything you could do would be fantastic!

French Aircraft:

Breguet Br700 C2 - Twin engine fighter. Two paint jobs, one for the C2 and one for the D.
Arsenal VG-33 - Light fighter. Three paint jobs - one for the VG-33, one for the 39 and one for the 60)
Amiot 354 - Medium Bomber
Bloch MB.174A.3 - Medium Bomber Three paint jobs - one for the 174A.3, one for the 175B.3 and one for the torpedo carrying 175T.
Bloch MB.162 - 4E Bomber
LeO 451 - Medium Bomber. Three paint jobs: 451,455, and the French Navy version 451M.
LN.401 - Carrier based Dive Bomber. Two paint jobs in French Navy colors, the LN.401 and the LN.42.
Potez 671
Latecoere Late.299 - Carrier based Torpedo Bomber
Dewoitine D.790 - Carrier version of the D.520
SNCASE SE.100 - Twin Engine Fighter (Two paint jobs would be great on this one as well)
Morane MS.450 - Fighter (Two paint jobs would be great)

Skyland - I know you have a lot of French art, let me know if I'm asking Gary to duplicate something that's already been done in the quality of the War Options plane sides.

US Planes
F5F-1 Skyrocket (1941-1942 USN Paint Schemes)
P-50 Skyrocket (1941-1942 USAAF Paint Schemes)
P-65 Skyrocket (1943-45 USAAF Paint Schemes)
F5F-3 Skyrocket (Navalized P-65, with the longer nose of the P-50/65 rather than the sub nose of the F5F-1, 1943-45 USN paint schemes)
P-63A and D King Cobra in USAAF paint scheme

Dutch Planes
CW-21C in a new paint scheme for a fictional variant in Focus Pacific operating 1942 onwards.
Dutch DB-7 in Navy Blue or Grey Blue (for the torpedo variant)
Dutch Vengeance I

I know that the Skyrockets have been done before, and I appreciate those artist's work, but I don't know if it's really been done justice yet. I'd love to see your take on it.

I know that this is a big list, and that your time is valuable. Thank you for whatever you're able to get to.

Hey, X-mas already? I'm in with 2 wishes, too.
Nakajima G10N Fugaku
G8N Renzan

Those are of low to no importance, however, since I would just use them in my next campaign game.

For some reason I got possessed by the air art bug today and created a Handley Page Halifax Mk III in South East Asia markings and color. Inexplicable.

Looks great - doubly so considering that plane sides are NOT easy to do.

One observation - is it me or does the nose look a little narrow? I admit complete ignorance when it comes to the Halifaxes, so it is more likely error on my part than yours.

But compare to this image - maybe this is a different Mk?

I think the line drawing I was working with didn't have the little node on the front just forward of the little antenna underneath. If you remove it then there is a little bit more slope on the front.

Makes sense - do you intend to do more camo schemes for rotating art or are you on to the next airframe?

Just doing whatever strikes my fancy right now. I haven't done much with WitP in a long time but for some reason just felt like doing some art for old time sake.

I look forward to seeing what you decide to make - I've taken to modding the art myself - the interface and ship sides for now, but I'm sure I'll take a crack at the planes at some point.

This would be kind of cool for an alternative history mod, or for that matter, even to be added to the vanilla game:

quote:

The SB2A (Brewster Model 340) was a development of Brewster's earlier SBA scout-bomber, sharing the single-engined, mid-winged monoplane layout of the earlier aircraft, but was larger and had a more powerful engine. It carried up to 1,000 lb (454 kg) of bombs in an internal bomb bay and for defensive purposes was fitted with a power-operated turret armed with two .30 in machine guns supplementing a further four forward-firing guns.

The US Navy ordered a prototype XSB2A on 4 April 1939, which first flew on 17 June 1941.[1] Large-scale orders had already been placed by this time, however, with the United Kingdom ordering 750 aircraft as the Brewster Bermuda and the Netherlands ordering a further 162 to equip the Royal Netherlands East Indies Army Air Force.[2] The first US Navy production order, for 140 aircraft, was placed on 24 December 1940.[1]

The RAAF had plans to order approximately 240 Bermudas in mid-1941 to re-equip 11 squadrons, but problems with the plane led the RAAF to cancel the order in November 1941, opting instead for the Vultee Vengeance.[2]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brewster_SB2A_Buccaneer

Perhaps had the Dutch held out longer they might have gotten deliveries of the Bermuda/Buccaneer as apparently planned. This could maybe be factored into a standard historical game if the Dutch forces hold out longer or if the player decides to salvage some of the squadrons playing a "Sir Robin" approach.

Was looking at the Buccaneer art a little more and decided it looked a little too 2D-ish. This is a slightly improved set. Also added fin flashes for the FAA versions.

One more for good luck. The Wiki article says the SB2As were intended for the Dutch Army Air Force. I think the color scheme for the Dutch SB2A above may be the Navy color. So here's another version sporting what I believe may have been the Army Air Force's colors. In any case, there are now two SB2As for the DEI to choose from.

Fokker T VIII. Only 36 were produced and none apparently served in the DEI, however, another "what if" plane for the Dutch.

And the preview:

I'm particularly proud of this one. I couldn't find a good line drawing to use so I had to improvise. This one started life as a very poor quality color plate. So I used the color plate to make my own line drawing via paint shop.

Here's what I started with:

Probably the last one for this evening: I'm calling this a Fokker T VIII/B. Completely hypothetical, a T VIII without the floats, basically a land based medium bomber or torpedo bomber.
