I have the "-wd" command line tweak in my game setup (placed just before the "-px# =py#" in the command line) but I still have the Windows 10 taskbar across the bottom of my screen, blocking access to my ground unit and industry icons.

What can I do to get rid of this?

Please post your full command line as you have it setup. Are you trying to play in full-screen windowed mode?

Try setting your Windows 10 Taskbar to "autohide".

This is the command line:

"C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admirals Edition DBB\War in the Pacific.exe" -altFont -archives -deepColor -wd -px1366 -py768 -dd_sw -fixedArt -SingleCpuOrders

This is what I set up in order to get the game to play without the ridiculous lag. I don't knw exactly what you mean by "full screen windows mode". I don't want it to be half the screen or something like that but I would like a windowed mode that makes it fill the screen except for where that bloody task bar lies across the bottom.

Any help is appreciated.

I am an idiot... I had looked at Windows 10 "settings" and couldn't find any way to hide the task bar. I had to right click on an empty portion of the task bar to bring up the task bar settings. Thanks. That did it.

Yeah, that was my assumption, which is why I asked if you were playing windowed full-screen mode. In that case, unless task bar is set to auto-hide it will block part of the screen.

Some people say the glass is half empty. Some people say the glass is half full. Me, I just drink the water.

What I did was make a command line that will run the game in just a little less than the height of my screen. That way I can always see the taskbar and click on the other apps I want (Tracker, text editor, etc.) without fuss. My screen is 1920 x 1080, and my command line is:
"C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -altFont -cpu4 -dd_sw -archive -wd -pxf1920 -pyf1018 -noFire -skipVideo

Pro tip: Edit the shortcut to "Start Maximized".

PS: For the combat replay I use full screen mode because my graphics card is not fast enough and the screen jumps during animations. My full screen command line is:
"C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -altFont -dd_sw -archive -d -px1920 -py1080 -skipVideo

I finally looked at the patch's readme file and saw the explanations of the command line switches. Now things make sense. I was using switches that others had posted in some of the threads here but those were not optimized for my computer.

I changed two settings: I went from -wd to -fd to get full screen mode. Now I have no problem seeing the bottom of the game screen (with the taskbar set to "hidden"). I also changed from -SingleCpuOrders to -cpu2 since my laptop uses an Intel i3 processor. Now the mouse clicks are recognized instantaneously.

I highly recommend looking at the opening comments in the patch readme for anyone still having troubles. The explanations in that significantly helped me understand what was going on.

It did not help me. I still have unbelievable bad lag on clicks. Takes three hours what used to take 3 minutes. Terrible. Altering the switches has not helped either.

Try using the -CPU # switches or the single CPU orders switch. Single CPU has helped me with lag on Win10 and some combination of the other CPU switches have helped others.

JJ... what processor does your computer use? We need to get the command line switches setup to take advantage of its capabilities.

Appreciate your responses.

MSI Stealth Pro Laptop
Intel I7
16mb video memory
128 SSD C drive (Sucks big time)
1 TB D drive

SHortcut not working. There is no "exe" file, only applications. Am unable to access without autorun. All switch changes attempted have failed. The properties window will not allow them, there is no existing file (Again, there is no exe file anywhere. Everything is an autorun which I cannot modify.

Guys I am extremely frustrated. I would like to use my laptop to play the game, and I was able to copy the last save on the destop and was able to access it, but the game itself is unplayable.

This machine automatically does way too many things, one being it auto adjusts the screen then tells me afterward it is not optimized. I then have to go into settings to reset the optimal (1920 by 1080). Why it does this is beyond me. I keep trying to get the switches to work, but no luck. The properties menu will not allow them.

Additionally, I have seen the many different strings proposed to work. All come from (I am defaulting to this machine) "D:/Matrix Games/War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition.exe My properties do not recognize that file. When I attempt to place switches after the .exe they are rejected. The .exe is rejected.

In the file folder (which cannot be found with .exe command) are several applications. The only way I can access the game is to use the "autorun" application file. Properties will not allow any modification to that file.

I am puzzled why my setup does not refer to an exe file, but it does not and when I examine the file folders within the game I cannot find any .exe files.

Target= "D:/Matrix Games/War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition" There is nothing in the shortcut box. It is blank. When the shortcut is selected off the desktop, it goes to two options, War in the Pacific... or War in the Pacific shortcut...which is the autorun file. To get to the forum I run the autorun.

The Icon for the shortcut is also missing. I just have a file folder. Anyway, I am not getting anywhere with this, but fortunately the desktop still works and the game plays well in it.

Sorry, my error. The first desktop referred to the desktop screen on the laptop. The second desktop referred to the desktop computer that was replaced with the laptop.

The problem with the SSD is two fold. One, it is solid state and has limited writes to it. Second, 128gb is not much space. Many programs, like this one, want to load to the C drive. This laptop is designed that exe files (the install) go on the C and everything else on the D. The ssd is fixed space. You cannot repartition to provide more. When it fills up, which is often, you are stuck until you move stuff to the D or delete apps and programs. In my opinion, the advantage that the SSD never degrades like a spinning disk is more than offset by the restrictions on space and use. A dual drive (two spinners) would work better. And they can be repartitioned for space, ie, space on one can be made available on the other. With the SSD one cannot do that. BTW, the 16gbvram came with the machine.

For the purpose of this discussion, the SSD is moot. I have moved the game to the D drive along with the keys to launching it. I just cannot get any switches to load.

Windows 10... yeeech! That is why I built my own PC and put in Win7. I have a 128 GB SSD as a boot drive for Windows. Everything else goes on a conventional 2TB hard drive. I have not problems. can't help on the laptop part. Your choices are tiny, fast SSD drives or bigger, slower HDs.

You have been putting your switches in a shortcut that DOES NOT point to the executable - it only goes as far as the subdirectory.

My path is off the C: drive so it reads C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War In The Pacific Admiral Edition.exe
Note the lack of an 's in the .exe file.

My switches are: -altFont -px1366 -py768 -multiaudio -dd_sw -skipVideo -deepColor -SingleCpuOrders -cpu2

Adding -cpu2 did cure some stalling with my i3 processor laptop, now AE runs like charm.
