December 1939. Meet us, Suomi-Beauty!

I have a question
Is it possible to win the scenario, If you playing on the Soviet side?
Can anyone boast of such a result?

It all depends on your opponent's experience
I had almost won unconditional victory by playing on the side of the Red Army
But we have obtained problem save in multiplayer and we had to interrupt the game

Now I'm on the side of the Finns, and my troops firmly hold the position in the Mannerheim line after 56 moves.

In my opinion on the side of the Finns play easier

I understand the situation as follows:

H.Balck has the right to the first night to create a scenario on map of Karaganov - the Western Front. Summer-1941. Karaganov promised this him in exchange for a list of new units.

But at the moment, H.Balck has suspended work on the scenario Barbarossa, and he was waiting for when developers will be able resolve the problem with multiplayer

And I never promised an easy life
From the beginning I wrote that I will make two scenarios

1. Meet us, Suomi-Beauty! December 1939. The high complexity for the Red Army.
2. Storming the Mannerheim Line. February 1940. The high complexity for the Finnish Army.

Guys, what`s your opinion on the AT switch of large caliber towed howitzers? I know that the German 10.5 cm leFH 18 was used in France in direct fire mode against the French tanks, but does anyone know of any example of the 15 cm sFH 18 ever being used in direct fire mode? Howitzers, in general, have low muzzle velocity so, unlike AA guns or even field guns, they don`t make natural weapons against tanks unless there`s some HEAT ammunition designed for them. We have a number of 15cm howitzers that have an AT version and in my opinion they look kinda odd in that iteration. Any thoughts on this?

If we talk about the Red Army,

The following models of howitzers regularly used against enemy tanks
107mm M1940 (M60). These guns were on arms anti-tank brigades of the Red Army.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/107_mm_divisional_gun_M1940_(M-60)
122mm M1910/30. These guns were the backbone of anti-tank defense of the Red Army during the Battle of Moscow.

Quite rarely used against tanks
152mm M1938 (М-30)
122mm M1938 (М-10)

Question
Do I understand correctly that it is possible to add new countries to the game.

I want to add 8 countries (which are in mod of Karaganov) to the original version of the game. I'm tired of constantly recopy the files back and forth. I want that mod will be compatible with the original version.

Let us assume that Germany will have two versions (0 - standard version and 35 - mod version)
Accordingly, the Soviet Union will also have two versions (3 - standard version and 36 - mod version)
and so on (Finland, Japan, Romania, Hungary, Slovak and Italy)

I see that the ID of units in the mod Karaganov, will not conflict with the ID of units in the original version

Do you think it possible to realize this idea?

Yes, but I think this one fells under the category of field guns, not howitzers.

Wikipedia says this about the M1910:
quote:

Low muzzle velocity and small traverse also made the gun helpless against enemy armor. Although in 1943 a HEAT shell was developed, the aforementioned deficiencies meant that a chance of hitting small moving target was slim.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/122_mm_howitzer_M1910/30
Did the 1930 modernization change things in this regard?

quote:

152mm M1938 (М-30)
122mm M1938 (М-10)

Do you know of instances of direct fire mode by these? And were they any good in the anti-tank role?

Yes, but doesn`t Karaganov`s mod change other things like movement and such? In any case, if you change the internal faction ID of Karaganov`s factions, wouldn`t that make his scenarios incompatible with your file and make it necessary to edit all those unit entries? Sounds like a nightmare to me. :D

We must change the flag in the equipment file (and in the scenario). It only takes a couple of hours.

He added several new types of movement. And they will only be available for 8 "new" countries

File of terrain of Karaganov is compatible with both versions

I think that the game is worth the candle

My impression was that Karaganov`s scenarios have thousands of units and locations, but if you feel like it go ahead. The files you need to edit to add a new factions are mentioned here:

1. We add a new country Germany-Mod (eg), flag=35

2. We add all text from the files of Karaganov's mod (equipment, efx, strings) in the original files of game.

3. We are changing the flag in the file equipment of mod
eg

4. We are changing the country into a scenario editor (instead Germany with flag 0, we must put Germany with flag 35)

It's done. Everything should work fine. Am I not right???????

And we all will be able to simultaneously play all vanilla scenarios and all scenarios Karaganov

My guess is that you would need to manually change with the editor every single ownership in the scenario at least when it comes to the locations (cities, ports airfields etc.) because those would still belong to faction ID 0. Seems like alot of work and the potential for mistake is big if you work with identical flags.

It seems that you are right, I had not thought about it
This greatly complicates all

Then we need to change all the flags on all objects within the scenarios, and the flags of the new faction should be different from the original flags

You can just use a temporary flag with distinctive graphics while you`re updating the map. Then change the .png file back to what you want. Still, there must be thousands of them to update in each of Karaganov`s scenarios.

I dont give Kompolka the rights to work with my units, so he can use the originals for his project, but no my ones - he is a trickster in my eyes.

Also to R35 - yes I have also all romanian ships, and the most of the other small nations.
But It needs time - actually I need 1-3 hours to produce one historical ship in 3d.

Also for now - Iain dont call me back - so it is not possible to play our mod for Panzer Corps on MP in the future.
I think I work again on my Order of War WW2 mod ( I can tranfer my units also in this engine now) - the graphic and features are much better like Panzer Corps - but the game supports only 120x120 map size limit.

Also I hope for an png support of Jason Petho's (Producer) John Tillers Campaign series new edition - than my full modding concentration goes to this engine - its much better like Panzer Corps and Order of war - and with my new terrain features (I have all the Massis full 3d sets ! + my own stuff of thousands new graphical options) and my 1800 units this engine would work fantastic and I would have finnish the most maps of the WW2 on my engine (my old project JTCS meets PG3D !) - also an Barbarossa map - bigger like Dennis one.
