I wonder if they finished filming Darkest Hour? Hurt was down to play Neville Chamberlain...

Let's hope so.

Indeed. I've always thought that, if one is contemplating giving birth, it is better to leave such a job to the ladies. The female of the species are, after all, equipped with the appropriate plumbing that is necessary for a successful outcome.

Elephant Man and playing Quentin Crisp in a UK TV series - plus Alien, of course - are what I remember him for most of all. Just a damned good actor!

Do not forget King Ralph

I first recall seeing him in 10 Rillington Place where he was superb at playing the vulnerable (and ultimately tragic) Timothy Evans

Awesome actor, loved him.
People have already mentioned some of his best screen work - 10 Rillington place, the naked civil servant, I Claudius and 1984.

Marvelous voice. Even his TV adds sounded good. Brilliant Caligula and Elephant Man. A gentleman. RIP.

RIP.

I have seen him in many movies. The link said he was 79. I always thought that he looked so old in the movies, and that he was much older.

The man was a great actor and played some iconic roles such as Kane, Joseph Merrick, Winston Smith and Quentin Crisp. I watched Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of The Crystal Skull again recently and I always forget he is in that movie.

He was also probably the last of the great hell-raising actors these islands have produced.

Great actor with a great easily recognisable voice which was similar to Jeremy Irons.
