AllenK and Mayhemizer, we are going to do this impulse (and the other game's impulse) using the existing version in order to keep the game going.

War has been declared. Congress unanimously passed the bill that sees the US at war with the Imperial Japanese Empire.

The Japanese are shocked

In downtown Tokyo, there is stunned disbelief that the US would do such a thing

There is a tension roll for the US - a 7 is rolled and so two chits are moved to the Japan tension pool.

EDIT: Probably shouldn't show that form!!

Note I ordered two throws. However, after the first, the dice changed from 1d11 to 1d10 so I threw again for the second throw.

Fine, I haven't updated yet and there is that problem with the reserves in Keith and Ian's game. We may as well wait to see if that is a bug or something has got corrupted locally.

No additional chits were moved to the tension pool.

US calls out their reserves.

The Italians seems shocked that the British would even attempt such a suicidal mission in such lousy weather that they are taken completely by surprise.

However, the British pilots seems almost as surprised by the non-existent port defences that they drop their bomb loads to early.

A US strike force sailed for Cape Basin.

CW send a couple of cruisers to the Coral Sea.

AllenK and/or Mayhemizer - are you around? It looks like there might be some heavy duty naval warfare type stuff going or (or not of course depending on throws) but, before starting out, I want to ensure someone can deal with this in case it goes on for a while.

Thanks

Naval Search

United States
We start in the China Sea where US submarines search for Japanese merchant shipping. The Japanese have not put their ships into convoy and there are no defenders. Perhaps this makes the enemy more difficult to find as throws of 9 (Allies) and 8 (Axis) mean that there is no combat.

Next up is the Bismarck Sea. The US are luckier here - 2 (Allies) and 6 (Axis) - although the pickings are much slimmer and the Japanese suffer a loss of a number of merchant ships.

However, while the wimpyness or otherwise of din dins was debated, AllenK settled down to etranches du belly de porc, haricots francais et pomme de terre nouveau avec du beurre.

I think I prefer being a wimp .

Naval Search (cont)

Something has gone wrong with the program and the next US naval search - I hope its not fatal....

Meanwhile, I switch to the Coral Sea and the Commonwealth in the hope it clears it. The Royal Navy place two cruisers in the area to try and catch any enemy shipping, but neither HMS Fiji nor HMAS Canberra are able to locate any Japanese ships 8 (Allies) and 3 (Axis).

Worryingly I still can't get the US to work and so move to the Italian Coast where the British have two submarine flotillas. Do the Axis want to bring any units into the area?
