Is there any way to make maintenance aircrafts able to use again? My idea is put them in repair depot, and see them being repaired in few days or weeks:

Repair Depot / Maintenance Hanger (Small-Very Large)

In db build 460, in addition the the sensors that are indicated in the unit description, when actually selecting the sensors the A-12A has "active radar seeker" and a "passive radar seeker". Not sure if this is an error.

From the newest patch, there are some questions on the China related additions:

- I didnt find the HQ-19 ABM anywere. Or is the SC-19 suppossed to be the only ABM/ASAT system added?

- Also, the JD-16 Sino-Growler doesnt have a SEAD loadout, but only unarmed stand-off jamming? Sure, we havent seen any equipment on the JD-16 IRL either, but it would be logical for a dedicated ECM fighter to carry some ARMs like YJ-91s.

- Furthermore, the newer J-10C seems to feature an obsolete DECM system (Average Generic DECM) compared to its older J-10B brethren (Advance Generic DECM or even newer KG-600 DECM pod).

- ALso, I would like to again request that the Y-8Q gets a better surface search radar, since it is kinda illogical that the premiere ASW/MPA of the PLAN gets only a 25 nmi ranged surface search radar from the 70s. It's large radome under its chin would be capable to house at least a similiar radar as the much older Y-8X non-ASW capable MPA.
Chinese Military Aviation even suggests that the radar might be even a development of the British Skymaster/Searchwater 2000 radar equipped on China's older Y-8J surveillance planes.
http://chinese-military-aviation.blogspot.com/p/surveillance-aircraft-i.html

Ok.

Added SEAD loadout to JD-16. Pair of KG-800 Pods + 2 YJ-91.
Adjusted all J-10 internal DECM sets to average but! we don't actually know what they are early on. This was all guess work when first reported. If you can get Henri K/Kaiser Sozee to jump a fence or whatever to get this info it would be great.
Post 2014 I started adding the KG-600 Pods and removing the internal sets
Adjusted the Y-8J to have a 200nm generic surface radar until we know what it is.
SC-19 was kind of a reach and meets what we think it might do. If you have good sources on new systems will add.

Thanks!

Mike

No luck, not even a code or counterpart mentioned, let alone who know it.

The origin of ECM tail claimed to be reported since 2008 when J-10B was sighted, since the material of tail tip is wave-passable. Originally, the J-10A doesn't have that tip, and mounted forward along with RWR and other sensors.

Upper left corner: detail of the J-10s vertical tail. From front to back. Probably an ECM antenna (for front aircraft coverage), a red navigation light, probably “Odd Rods” IFF antenna, a static discharge wick, a rear navigation light, a cover over the ARW-9101 RWR and finally another static discharge wick. Below a closeup of the ventral fins possible containing aerials for communications equipment. Right: (other than what’s already covered) and the parachute housing with ECM transciever below.

I will keep it updated soon.

Question: ship launched ARM (or in general ARM) should be able to target all kind of surface radars? For example surface search & navigation, surface to surface, etc ?
I started thinking on this when i first had to shoot a surface to surface ARM to another ship that was shooting me back but couldn't lock on his FCR.

In regards to the DECM discussion, I've noticed that in most cases, the J-10B/C's podded KG-600 will not be used during PoH calculation, but only the internal Average DECM is. Why is that so? Is there a cooldown time for the podded DECM? I tried both SAM and AAM. During AAM hit calculations, the KG-600 will never be used, while against SAM, it will be used once or twice, but then switched to onboard DECM.

Log file for the SAM engagement attached.

Thanks.

Additional man-portable small missile, or LMS, is designed to defeat unexpected threat on both air and surface. Like Javelin but much lighter:

The seeker of the Hidden Blade is pretty weird. Sounds like some sort of Active Infrared.

While a nice idea, I dont think that the PLA will adopt it. They still have yet to adopt the much more mature HJ-12 Sino-Javelin for that matter. The PLA ground-forces in general are very conservative, and probably still stuck in mostly achaic thinking compared to the more avangarde PLAAF and PLAN. Good for China that the PLAN and PLAAF high brass have increasingly more sway over the armed forces these days.

Not to mention; Ground Force combat is still very rudimentary in CMANO.

I saw the DB3000 that Chinese maritime authorities' ships are named [Zhong Guo Haijian] and [Zhong Guo Haijing]. I must say they are both confusing and easily mixed up with Haijian/Haijing part. So why not use the English name?

There are three separated maritime authorities in China, and they have official English names as well as the unique emblems and racing stripes to identify:

[Zhong Guo Haijian] -> CMS (China Marine Surveillance), under State Oceanic Administration, 4 thin blue stripes only:

[Zhong Guo Haijing] -> CCG (China Coast Guard), under State Oceanic Administration, one thin blue, one thick red and three thin blue stripes in orders:

and China MSA itself (China Maritime Safety Administration ,CMSA), one thick red adjacent with thin blue, then other 3 thin blue stripes in orders:

Yes, CMSA is also have armed ships, like this catamaran. But usually CMSA have only small tonnage ships and speedboats, and for close shoreline patrol.

I make that variant myself - I dubbed it the EV-22E Electric Osprey - by adding a Searchwater AEW radar to the MV-22 and saving it as a delta file. Same with a standoff jammer variant of the Osprey (the EV-22F Fuzzy Osprey). Two each per LHD, and for a little flair their squadron callsigns come from USMC VMAQ squadrons.

A downgraded and less stealthy version for CCG, one 30mm turret at fore. Still no proper type code yet.

There is a long list of non-Navy CMS and CCG, but the expansion and conversion are so quick to follow to date, so I only provide some info with rather usually seen ships. Kudos to the blogger who wrote this:
http://oplanchina.blogspot.hk/p/cms-test.html
http://oplanchina.blogspot.hk/p/blog-page_77.html

As for CMSA, there are lots of boats that below 1000t and aren't too worthy to put effort to DB3000. Some larger ships are also either converted to CCG, or lacks of info about the hull design. I need time to tidy up the CMSA list first.

If you would like real-world, the UK was hosting the USMC aboard HMS Ocean in the Gulf in January. Performing operations supported by the ASaC.7 Sea King:

Note the side mounted Searchwater sensor.

Functions of ASaC.7 include AEW, mini-JSTARS (check out the Orange Crop ESM...), ground surveillance. Easily comparable in function (if not performance) to Hawkeye. Used extensibly as a mini-AWACS and mini-JSTARS in Iraq. Being a helicopter based platform it has a few USP's over Hawkeye. Operation from an LHD and station keeping being two.

ASaC.7 is to be replaced by Merlin HM.2 in the real world with the Crowsnest Ro-Ro kit (currently represented in CMANO as a separate unit instead of a loadout) from 2018.

If you do want a Hypothetical V-22 AEW, there were concepts with overwing radomes a la Hawkeye, however the closest that has come to fruition was the V-22 TOSS, an Osprey version of Merlin MASC (which became Crowsnest).

This was effectively the same Crowsnest kit (palletised Cerberus workstations, Searchwater) that Merlin received but with a ramp mounted pallet for the sensor. It's still considered a future possibility as the Crowsnest kit is truly Ro-Ro.

Whilst looking at some Indian Ocean scenarios I found that the Myanmar Navy has some fairly recent, but significant units missing from the DB.
Some of the missing units are Chinese imports and therefore easily added, however Myanmar has produced an number of indigenous missile armed frigate & corvette units.
Many of these are well armed and include stealth features.

I've included some links but still looking for further info.
Note: The Shipbucket links- Not sure on the source of this guys info but he seems to have done his homework and line drawings included.
His list of sensors/weapons etc seem to match other sources I've found scattered around

Apart from their own indigenous shipbuilding program & adding Chinese ASM's to just about anything that floats, Myanmar has been seeking (or at least talking about) purchasing submarines, but as far as I know there isn't anything currently in the pipeline.

Not only do they have the weapons available they've been practising using them (OTHT ASM)

Given the weapons and the geographic region (China's 'string of pearls') I think these are worth adding at some point (of course I'd say that as I'm building a scenario that can use them )

Maybe just add the Searchwater 2000 AEW radar as a loadout (roll on roll off) to the existing hypothetical SV-22?

Mike can we add a hypothetical unit in as Ev-22 Osprey To give US mini carriers (LHA,LHD) some AeW capability?

http://thediplomat.com/2016/06/why-the-us-gator-navy-needs-the-ev-22/

I make that variant myself - I dubbed it the EV-22E Electric Osprey - by adding a Searchwater AEW radar to the MV-22 and saving it as a delta file. Same with a standoff jammer variant of the Osprey (the EV-22F Fuzzy Osprey). Two each per LHD, and for a little flair their squadron callsigns come from USMC VMAQ squadrons.

Interesting stuff but I very much doubt its the SA-N-5?

The text of the links refers to the "SA-N-5 Igla" which in itself is contradictory as the SA-N-5 GRAIL is the naval derivative of the Strela 2/2M etc.
Its very unlikely the SA-N-5 is used on these new Myanmar boats as its pretty much an antique.

SA-N-5 is the navalised SA-7 Grail which in Russian / Soviet references is the Strela 2, Strela 2M etc, then the later SA-N-8 Gremlin (Strela 3) NATO SA-14 Gremlin.

http://www.armyrecognition.com/russia_russian_army_light_heavy_weapons_uk/sa-7b_grail-b_9k32m_strela-2m_portable_air_defense_missile_system_technical_data_sheet_specification.html

http://www.armyrecognition.com/russia_russian_army_light_heavy_weapons_uk/sa-14_gremlin_9k34_strela-3_man-portable_missile_technical_data_sheet_specifications_pictures.html

http://www.armyrecognition.com/russia_russian_army_light_heavy_weapons_uk/sa-18_grouse_9k38_igla_man-portable_missile_technical_data_sheet_specifications_description_pictures.html

Myanmar is listed as one of the users of the SA-18 Igla so that would make more sense for arming its "new" warships (SA-N-10 Gimlet).
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/9K38_Igla

That said the armament of these ships appears almost exclusively Chinese which means the HN-5 etc Chinese SA-7 copy is possible (but still unlikely due to obsolescence) and the Chinese have a variety of modern similar sized MANPADS in the form of the far more effective QW-1/2, FN-6 etc.

It just seems more likely that whatever these new boats are armed with it isn't the SA-N-5.

Or even North Korean copies (cheers Mike) http://spioenkop.blogspot.co.uk/2016/03/north-korean-ht-16pgj-manpads-in-syria.html

Regards
