ORIGINAL: Jorge_Stanbury Also interested to understand why you are using barges... I mean, as Japan you can use DDs, cruisers, to fast transport, at "warp speeds", not to mention that any xAK/ xAP is a fast transport until the end of the amph advantage barges will need to be refueled, and they are slow and small Small being the operational word there. With an escort, they will almost never be attacked by subs. They will almost never be attacked by air -- one exception is fighters on strafing naval attacks seem to target them. If they are hit ground troop losses are minimal. They are incredibly fast at loading and unloading. Incredibly fast. If going from port to port they can pick up and unload and disband all during the night phase. Set them not to refuel, and odds are once they are sent back to the pool they will generate their own fresh fuel they next time they are constructed. They also add color to the game. And since they can be spawned anywhere, pose a potential small invasion threat everywhere -- even when Allied recon is good. In this case, I am not going very far. I don't want to risk better shipping until the 2nd wave and more support arrives. Barges are incredibly useful, as long as you have the supply. If you look at the map, there are several great spots for quick unexpected barge invasions. PS: You cannot use subs to refuel anything.
