Quiet day for the most part. Allies moving forward at Aliford Bay; at Kona.

The Allied bombers hit the jungle east of Katha, but no amount of bombing is going to tilt that ground combat to his favor.

August sees several important ASW upgrades to sub chasers and E's.

You should start moving that supply to where it will be needed. Doesn't matter if you have 6M supply in 1944 if it's all in Japan and not where you're actually fighting.

2 million in Japan, 4 million where I need it now. That seems a good balance right now.

Seems like a reasonable balance. As you know, 2 million will evaporate pretty quickly in 1945.

I agree with this. Even if the planes don't cause casualties, they will chew up supplies and raise fatigue/disruption while lowering morale.

A near disaster, as 125 expert twin engine bombers pick their own ground target (my mistake here) and fly into Akyab bombing the troops there. Of course the escorts are over the real target, not here. Plus there are 75 fighters, P40 on CAP, but thankfully they are patrolling at 30K, and the bombers go in at 10K. Still, 10 planes are lost to an administrative foul up.

Allies sweep and bomb Shwebo, clear terrain. AA does a good job...but I suspect the Allies will start hitting the open hexes hard. No effort is being made to shut down the runways.

Yesterday, in China the weirdest thing happened. 6 ART units advanced into a Chinese hex and promptly retreated back out with a Chinese unit in pursuit, but there was no combat. Pretty strange.

The sub war against Japan's industry is very intense. Several attacks here, and another over between Singers and Palembang. No damage, though there was one hit with no explosion.

I can't wait for next months ASW upgrades.

This part of the war seems very realistic, and I am sure the Allies are getting a lot of enjoyment out of using their subs. I have allocated all CVE into ASW platforms, gone to bigger and better escorted convoys, and stolen a few Army squadrons (mostly the Lilly IIb divebomber) and put them into ASW patrols.

Plane moves:

The Oscar is no longer being manufactured, until Aug 1 when all factories will advance to the Oscar IV. Any models that don't upgrade to the IV will eventually be relegated deep defense/training according to plane pools.

The r&d factories went to oddball NF: Frances, Dinah, Zero, Peggy. No reason to r&d Judy as the first squadron that flies it arrives 20 days after production arrival. I will be making the Judy NF...since there is a four to six month lag until it can upgrade to another plane (I think).

The Two remaining r&d facilities went to the Randy 102a...a twin engine fighter that M-M and Lok have had kind words about recently. There are several squadrons that upgrade to it, and certainly it is better than the previous plane.

I have converted a fourth IJAAF squadron over to the Frank A...they are all in Burma, however the latest is in Singers.

I am really looking forward to having the Tony in greater numbers (squadrons that is).

And finally, I am thinking of assigning skill 70 lownav (kamikaze pilots) to Sonia to bomb the Chinese and build experience. I am starting to have deep pools of these guys, and I was wondering if I can make some really elite kamikaze pilots.

IJAAF sweeps some Allied LRCAP. The CAP was at 30K, I swept at 10K, and got 2 confirmed kills out of 4 planes total. A total of 4 Allied fighter losses to 0 Japanese for the day according to Tracker.

Lok won't like me sweeping with these guys, but what is a PDU off guy gonna do?

Allied bombers rest for the day.

Oscar IV and Frances start production today and the Lilly IIc.

Very quiet day, moving ships for upgrades. Kb is at sea...we will see if anything comes of it.

Should be some corsair versus Frank excitement tomorrow.

So far we have survived two sweeps by 16 Corsairs each...I think losses are even to slightly in Japan's favor. I hope the bombers come soon...

No bombers, it seems there was 3 groups sweeping: 18,16,16 and 4. Franks did very, very well indeed. The Corsairs were set at 30K, and we had three sentai of Franks (101 planes total) set at 9,7, and 5K.

Urumchi falls at last taking a fair number of Chinese planes.

That kind of success, with Low CAP, against good fighters I think has really saved Magwe's production, as I can only think of what Jocke thinks about flying into a nest of 350 fighters instead of 100.

At some point will he pursue night bombing, or will he wait till 44 for that? Not sure.

Over in the New Britain things have been relatively quiet. My probing raids have met with no resistance, I can't tempt his planes to fly bombing missions over my ships, so it has been quiet for the last few days.

I am moving SNLF COYs to the dot bases to hold them...flying them in by flying boat or fast transport them in. I feel I need a little something there, as more free bases for the Allies is something I want to avoid.

Jugs sweep Shwebo heavily, but the Franks are back at larger bases so they swept for no purpose.

Situation continues to look good here, but the threat of invasions always weight heavily. Building up Pegu as a serious reserve base.

Lots of action here.

American minesweepers at Lae; the Marine Corp parachutes in at Fenri to be met by elements of the 14th Naval Guard. The 14th arrived overnight via fast transport, and just in time!

Further to the south, at Shortlands the 24th Division lands more troops but is repulsed with 120 disablements...they weren't too prepared for the landing. Now the A and C splinters are there.

And further to the east, Christmas Island (Pacific Ocean) is invaded by the 7th Division, and holds.

The August upgrade for the fast battlehsips adds almost 150 AA points. It is nice having Manila around to do these upgrades.

25mm, but beggars can't be choosy. Also, adds some air radar.

I have gotten most of the fast battleships, E's, and 15 knot subchasers in for their upgrades, along with a couple of CLs.

Yesterday I bought out the 2nd Armored.

The 1st Division is enroute to Saipan.

The 16th is heading for Truk and will arrive tomorrow.

The 1st Tank leaves for Bangkok today.

The 5th Guards, 6th Guards, 2nd, 4th, 14th divisions are all awaiting purchasing and are resting at Tokyo.

The poor experience is a harsh effect of being wiped out in California.

First day, and the Allies start night bombing of Palembang. Three AA units there don't fire at all, no searchlights or radar in them. The unit that has that is at Mir

The Dutch miss, but the B17 get 2 hits and raise the refinery damage to 44 and oil to 13.

Now you have me confused old friend.

I think we have jumped back in time and space. Perhaps the Empire has been able to develop a new wonder weapon called the tardis?

Allies aggressively recon the dot bases looking for easy conquests. P38s butcher some Rufes over Fenri.

A Yank sub sinks a poorly escorted tanker carrying oil short of Manila.

Aliford Bay finally falls to combined attacks.
