I got sometimes similar error, it happens when you set ressources on an hex wich had no "nation assigned"
Also I notice I got sometimes crashes when I work on zoom out version (with high mountain terrain for example).
I cant explain why , maybe editor is still a beta tool (but still very good so far)
The rule number 1 is to save the work on regular basis, just in case

I have also noticed this, but I wanted to see it a few more times on zoom out, just to be sure before I reported it.

I know, I know ! And as you can probably tell by the screen shot, I didn't have much done before I tried to save, which caused a bunch of pop-ups saying I needed to add more stuff, like capitals. This is when it crashed and I lost it. It would have been nice to be able to save the map without making it pass those further tests.

Thank you all

Here is a "small" part of the MAP that I did update several weeks ago.
Dont forget that it will be mainly a "kit" for modders, not a campaign file, "just" a Map that everybody can use to devellop its own campaign.
The Editor allow Map crop, so anybody interested can adjust required area for campaign Edit (eg: east Front Barbarossa or DAK in North Africa ect.....)

Rgds

It would be extremely interesting if someone made a WW2 scenario out of this.
I'm not up for it, but I would think that someone else would be...
Not that I am thinking of anyone in here.

SIPRES, this is some awesome work. Would you consider sharing it in the current state, or are you set on waiting until it is done? I have been wanting to work on a WWI scenario for a long time and this mod might just be the perfect base. I'd love to get into it and poke around in the editor to get a feel for scale and unit sizes and such.

Hi Samolety,

I plan to share only after a certain point of acheivement (at least all coastlines and relief completed)
I like to release something wich can be used quickly by modders, so be patient...
To give you an idea of current progress coastline from Cadiz to Konigsberg is complete, I will post later on few screenshots

I understand SIPRES. I will start working on the underpinnings of my Great War scenario with this map in mind as a base while I eagerly await the first release.

Well, Samolety, WWI modding means a lot of script work, right? Do you have experience dealing with this challenging section of the game?

Yeah, I've got a good bit of scripting experience, both in general from coding in Lua and game-specific from playing around in the editor. That's what I am starting work on now. I have always wanted to do WWI but I've never been happy with the default game map and a project like this one you have here always daunted me. I don't know whether or not I will ever finish the scenario, but I'm definitely going to give it the old college try. It's a personal project, so no one really knows or cares if I finish or not (though if I do I will definitely release it). The first step was always: If I'm going to do it, I'm going to do it right. Which meant a suitable map. This one is brilliant.

Great map.
Just a detail : on behalf of French, accents are missing :
- Besançon
- Châteauroux
- Orléans
- Neufchâteau
- Genève

Error on a previous map : Fontainebleau

Thanks for those highlights.
I may have errors here and there. I didnt include accents as I suspect software "may" not recognize them and lead the MAP to crash, need a try...

I think it will need a full typo review after map completion.

This looks like the Europa game series from the 1970s.

Sipres: The map looks nice. I started a map set to 16 miles/hex with the idea that is could be used with the GDW/GRD Europa OOB, but became totally demoralized once the task of making the coastlines presented itself. 12.5 miles per hex (20km/hex) might be a good substitute since one must deal with the whole no stacking issue. Let us know how your progress goes!

StratComAI: once Sipres gets the map done, I can easily add in road/rail lines from the Europa maps. Might have to create (if possible) a few new terrain types like bocage. Some of the hexside terrain types like karst may not be supportable. The bigger issue is the map/movement speed relationship. With Sipres' map hexes slightly smaller and the SC3 infantry movement rate already lower at 4 vs. Europa's 6, you'd be pretty much forced to either go to weekly turns or if possible, reduce movement costs to clear hexes down to 0.5. Will have to check to see if that is possible.

Hi,

Thank you both, I didnt knew europa series and I check on google.
Its really a "monster" game when you get all maps together........

Here is current Progress:

France,Holland,Belgium,Denmark,Spain,Portugal 100% completed
North Germany Coast complete (till Konigsberg)
Italy Coast complete, working now on rivers and relief.

Next target will be UK coast and Balkans

I join the reference map I use

Spires, keep up the good work. That coastline stuff....ugh. I failed that morale check, your fortitude must be higher.

One question for you: is there space in the SCIII map size limits for a few extra rows of hexes, using your base map? The Europa maps include the northern Finnish/Arctic coast (Petsamo and Murmansk in particular) and the Allied convoys run thru there during the winter months. Not relevant to 18th century wargaming, but some interesting stuff during WW2.

Editor is flexible and you can resize and shift map content, so should be possible to add Northern area (also maybe USA east coast)
