Hurra for soviet partisans !!!!

There is some sort of partisan Alley all the way to moscow !!!

Without them there was no way i could hold moscow in september against the wermarth. There are not enough troops, simple.

I was 99.9% sure you did, but dang that was some serious partisan action and just had to ask. You have been SUPER unlucky on the partisan front for partisans to blow up 6 continous rail hexes. Are you sure Stelteck doesnt have spies in your HQ's ;-p. Those Russian players are crafty you know.....

Turn 15, 25th september 1941

Still no fuel in the center but some good news near Leningrad

North

This time, it's over. Leningrad is isolated. Personnaly, I would have tried to save guards rifle units. They are very usefull units.

Center

WWI style offensive. I hope I won't get a 3rd partisan strike next week!

South

To Stalino!

North

Leningrad has almost fallen. The finns will hold the line during the blizzard and free several german inf divs

Center

It's better. Still 3 hexes in order to encircle Moscow. I did 2 HQBU. Next week will be decisive

South

Russians give ground. I manage to grab some cav divs

Around moscow, the partisan rampage that blocked the ennemy 3 turns at least gave me a real fighting chance by letting me receiving enough renforcement to be able to fortify the area.
Siberian divisions that i received with 60 morale, one per turn are especially valuable for this fight.

I also received armored&motorised divisions. They are mixed blessing. Good fighting CV (at least better than 40Xp rifle division). But sometimes when they reached the front, they immediatly convert to a poor rifle division or tank brigade and i rail them for nothing. I really hate that.

Still most new divisions i received are empty and due to the high demand for new soldiers, they took a lot of times to be operational.

I also received tank brigades but do not have light tanks to fill them so they are waiting in the rear. Reserve of T-26 and BT-7 are really low with no production. I also loose 100 of them in each battle against the german.
Soon i will have the T-60 that kick in, but i need at least 2000 light tanks so it will take some time to fill.
I may have TOE upgrades that use more medium tanks than light tanks to help me. A good think as i have a good number of T-34 idle. Did a 50Xp T-34 able to hit and kill a german tank ? German tank looses are quite low in battle currently.

In the north, i was hoping to hold until mud at least at leningrad, but isolated troops fight really really bad, even with airbeach supply and 100% supply drawn from cities.

In the south, defense of voronev were quite low due to the destruction of SW front in karkov pocket but the ennemy aimed south and southern front, manned by the best and most manly marshal Semion Boudienny is well supplied and in the way to roskov. (Still, i'am trying to avoid another pocket).

Turn 17, 9th october 1941

Well, time to look back on this summer campaign.

Pretty satisfied in the north My aim was to take Leningrad in order to get the finns for the northern defence. It's done!

In the center, with only 13 active turns, it proved to be impossible to take Moscow. Should I do a last attempt in november or get more entrenchment before blizzard. We shall see.

In the South, Kharkov Pocket was a game changer. Now I have enough ground to trade during blizzard.

Russian losses are high but Red Army will have firepower during winter....

understatement :(

With the +1 Soviet attack bonus for winter "a Soviet kid with a lollipop" will make the Germans retreat. Normally 90% of the attacks in the Dec winter with the +1 will succeed. Higher % if you plan your attacks.

Snowtime, mud is over!

We won't waste time with secondary theaters. Moscow is the main fight area.

First, russians won some miles South of Moscow, it reduced supply to the spearheads.

Previous CV's of 23/26 turned to 40/44 and can be attacked only through one hex. The southern pincer failed. But next week should be fine. I will then have 2 weeks to clear Moscow.

There was the 3 best divisions of my entire army with my best HQ facing the northern pincer, but you managed to make 2 heavy attacks and i repealed only the first one.

I let 9 armement points in moscow to motivate troops to fight

Fine. I am with the Soviets here so it becomes a long game/AAR :)
Here is some motivation for your troops: The march of the defenders of Moscow.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Efb1DAeA34

And to leave no doubt: The red army is the strongest.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgKazTrhXmI

I have searched on youtube for some contemporary Soviet music for an AAR on another forum and if playing Soviets they make up for a good background music, better than the default one.
Unfortunately if you speak German you can't do the same thing for the Axis side as hearing German songs from the side always causes a very bad feeling (hope this is not too much politics).
Regards

An impressive attack on that 8/44 stack east of Moscow. really thought it would hold especially with some reserve activations. did you use tank and cavalry units as reserve units at Moscow, selteck?

Do you have a screenshot of the attack at this 8/44 Stack?
In PbeM-games getting 2 or 3 of them made one think the opponent is an especially ruthless case of a reloader.

Edit: Please note that I in no way want to suggest that Stef78 is cheating. I am sorry for making this not clear in the first time.

Those stacks protecting the Moscow city hexes look very difficult to clear, even if you surround
Moscow next turn. Then once the blizzard turns start the Soviet player should be able to break the
siege.

So you are hinting at that Stef is cheating? That is pretty messed up to say about Stef if you are hinting at that. And if im reading this correctly.

I never had the intention to blame Stef78 for cheating as I until now assumed that this is a server game where no unnoticed reload cheating is possible AFAIK?
I am sorry that my comment could be misunderstood in this way and I will edit it.
I also said "getting 2 or 3 of them" because getting one such result isn't even that unlikely.
Thanks for making me aware of this hardluck.

Attacking 2 good stacks from only one side isn't an easy task. Mp's cost prevents multiple attacks.

Unfortunatly I kept no picture of these fights.

My way on this case
Massive tactical bombing (2)
North Moscow: 2 heavy attacks, the second one under Manstein command. If I remind well 1st fight was 1.56/1 and forts droped under 2. The second result was 5/1
South: only one heavy attack under Hube's command. It failed and I wasn't able to get 3 units for a second heavy attack. Model's corps was clearing the forrest South.

It is what i remembered too. 2 perfectly executed attacks. The first one failed, with one of my armored division that reacted on reserve. But the armored division lost 100 tanks in the battle and was crippled. Fortification was also destroyed by massive amount of enemy pionner, and i suppose that my ammunition level dropped too.
Then the german used 3 fresh divisions to launch another massive attack which succeeded. (No reserve activation this time).

I usually try to use armored division and naval infantry as reserve.

I think my troops lack anti tanks weapons, even if i have an AT artillery regiment as support unit. Maybe i could have done something with an anti tank brigade. I under-used these units they may be perfect as reserve.

I make that just one week with the city isolated. It's getting a bit tight, I would start trying to clear the city before it's isolated. Western Moscow might be takeable next turn with a bit of luck and good planning.
