Jan 14-15, 1942 SUBS: The KXVI sinks PB Akitsui Maru in a TF near Miri. A few other interactions but nothing else major. DEI: Small battles continue, with a few hits against the CA/CL at Balikpapan, and a DD that looks in trouble there. CL Kiso doesn't look good either, but there are so many damaged ships in several locations that the bomb hits are scattered among them and no one ever gets into real trouble. To top it off the 4Es don't fly on the 15th. Grrrrr. Looks like some action around Ambon. No more action around Singers these turns but there are a lot of big ships gathering and the KB is moving this way. I'm nearly ready to get outta dodge, but gotta get some ships able to move first. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR Jan 14, 42 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Morning Air attack on Balikpapan , at 64,97 Weather in hex: Clear sky Raid spotted at 3 NM, estimated altitude 24,000 feet.
