Not that is what you call a woman!

I presume the first word in your comment s/b "now," - the word not is definitely out of place here.
Amazing what bared shoulders will do to you, Warspite!

Mmmm.. never post when in a hurry Yes it should have been now.

And yes, La Loren has a wonderful pair of shoulders au naturel.

I've mentioned this before. The first time I noticed her I was seven years old and my parents drug me to see Man of La Mancha. My eyes must've looked like tea saucers watching her. She's still number one in my book.

For me, it was watching reruns of The Avengers with Emma Peal in that full-body leather suit, about age 7 too. I just remembered thinking, "I really like this show.", but didn't know why-yet.

I'm getting old. I turned seven in 1964, not 1972 when Man of La Mancha came out. Maybe I'm thinking of The Fall of the Roman Empire. In 1972 my parents didn't drag me anywhere. Memory is a funny thing.

Funny as in 'Ha ha-I remember when I could remember stuff?' or funny as in "Strange. I remember it differently."?

And so true. Looks very familiar. I could remember coming home and with just one look from the 'wicked witch of the east' I'd start to think about what I may have done wrong. Not a good way to live. Happily those days are long gone.

I'm going to be pondering how to restore my computer from the backup. Never done that before. It's in the shop. There was a power outage while Windows Update was running and I was unable to boot up after that. Maybe I should get a power backup. In this heat we're having frequent brown-outs too. I'm borrowing a friend's PC to check my mail.

When power goes out during a Windows update the PC, when restarted, rolls back to before the update started. This can take a while as it backs out the partial update. You can tell because the hard drive or SSD is constantly being accessed. Just be patient, it will boot up. At least for later versions of Windows :-)

If the hard drive/SSD is not being accessed, then it may indeed be dead.

Or a laptop. I'll never own a desktop computer again since I've gotten the freedom of a laptop. It goes anywhere, and even if I lose power its battery keeps me going until I can save and close the program.

I was going to say the same thing. We have 6 UPSs. It gets noisy with all the alarms when the power goes out, but they are better surge protectors than those power strips with surge protection and gives you a chance to shut things down when the power goes out.

I almost said that (I think we have 4), but then considered that he said a Windows update was in progress and a UPS might not last long enough for a really slow computer doing an update. I could swear I remember Geoff saying his PC is really slow.

Just make sure the UPS has the wattage to keep whatever you have up for a few minutes, anyways. There are a ton of cheap UPS systems out there, that can't keep a toaster up.

Remember that only the PC and monitor need the benefit of a UPS. Don't waste precious battery power on your printer, sound system, or table lamp. Most UPSes have 2 rows of plugs - one row for devices needing battery backup, and a second row for those that only need power.
Most UPSes will estimate (in minutes) how long they can supply power for, based on current usage.

The computer wasn't dead, there was a dialog about different options to try to bring up Windows. None of them worked, including those that would have wiped everything clean. Something about the configuration having changed or something like that.
