Late October 1944

2 Japanese divisions are surrounded in the backwaters of Thailand. It is going to be tough for them to get out. Northeast of Chaing Mai are 2 regiments of another division I believe.

Truthfully, and mind I'm not that good of a player, I'm happy if I can extricate myself from Burma and lose less than 6 ID's ... that's beyond what I plan to lose. Burma is on e of the areas where the allied advantage in movement is huge. Even when you are aware of it, you still lose sight of it once in a while and in Burma that will cost you a unit or two every time.

I put a ton of fighters and a good number of bombers at Shikuka and do a night airfield raid on Toyohara which was disappointing although it was in thunderstorms. MrKane uses 2 bombardment TF's and hits the base with good damage.

The airfield is 99% damaged and the next day it is still 99% damaged. However, the 2nd day after the bombardments the airfield was repaired and most of the airfield service damage was also repaired. So, unless he bombards every 3rd day he cannot keep the field closed.

5 destroyers were damaged by mines in the bombardment attacks. 3 PT STF forces engaged the bombardments and managed to put a torpedo in a light cruiser.

MrKane tries to put additional troops into Toyohara. I send a DD STF to intercept with great success. All of the ships were sunk in this or the subsequent daylight phase.

Vinh fell to an armored assault against a garrison regiment. This is great since now I can provide supply from Cotabato if necessary. My eyes are gazing east toward china now.

2000+ AV headed for Hanoi/Haiphong

You said they flew in over your CAP what was your CAP set too and what was his planes flying? What was the weather in the hex that was attacked? This would be the best results from a kamikaze ever.

230 franks followed by the 100 Kami's.

They came in at 24K. I dont think I had anything above 15K.

That is one of the best kamikaze strikes I ever saw...great coordination, bombers got thru and hit carriers...old carriers, but carriers.

You should have had a battleship there.

The height difference made a huge impact.

Of the 45 Kamikaze that survived the CAP and flak 28 of 45 hit targets. That would be an all time record strike for that flew of Kamikaze 98 with 28 hits or 29% hits.

Early November 1944

Troops have entered Hanoi and are pushing down the coast. There is going to be a breakthrough soon into the plains near Soc Trang.

He completely pulled out after the 2nd day of attacks because the airfield is shut down. He will have to LRCAP 7 hexes from Singapore to cover the base now.

My intention is to destroy the oil and then I dont care anymore. My first bombing run took out 172 of the 901 present. Tomorrow is another clear day and I am dropping my bombers down for a 10K run. Once that is completed I am looking toward the China coast as it is relatively unprotected with no major air bases.

I think MrKane is doing a Dunkirk from Cam Ranh Bay and Saigon to Haiphong and other locations. I dont mind him relocating from great terrain to good terrain.

Meanwhile, Back at the ranch....

I decided a long time ago to attack Toyohara by land, who would think of slogging a month through the bush rather than just assault in 1 day eh? Recently I managed to sneak a few divisions into Shikuka by hugging the coast and sending the ships a bit north.

MrKane had battleships poised at Toyohara probably believing I was trying to set up some sort of amphibious landing seeing the AP ships. I managed to put a few torpedoes into a battleship during some harassing raids. Did not realize how much damage destroyers could do with bombardment. Now I have Toyohara airfield empty of planes and am working it down along with a full assault in about a week. I do not know what I will be facing at the base other than 45K troops with little armor.

If things get bogged down there are 2 combat engineers with over 500 AV of gear heading toward Toyohara the same slow slogging route. Should be there within 3 weeks.

There was this awesome turn where my Superfortresses attacked some of MrKanes carriers and tore up the Sam's pretty fierce. And it turned out to by a synch bug :/

Anyway, here is combat at Toyohara. Hard on the Allies. I have 2 large engineer divisions on the way in about 2 weeks to help with the lvl 4 forts. He has about 5 brigades on the base right now.

Locked in an epic struggle at Haiphong and Hanoi. MrKane managed to move a great bit of hardware to these two bases. I have managed to put 1500AV in Haiphong and will have over 2000AV in Hanoi with most of my tanks. MrKane has at least 1300AV in Haiphong and well over 1000 AV in Hanoi. I just had a tough attack in Saigon as well.

On the up side, Vinh is growing like crazy and is now lvl 7 at 59% with a 20% growth per turn. Once that base hits lvl 9 I can out muscle him for sure. I like the terrain but it is just as likely that MrKane bugs out than faces me. We shall see. He commits hard but is not afraid to withdraw if it is to his advantage.

To heck with the engineers (at Toyohara) - you need vehicle mechanics and armour patch welders!

Troops going in at Bunguran to make moving fuel difficult. Palembang crushed down easily in 3 days and then 3-4 more got diminsihing returns. It is now below 100 which I can live with.

Singapore is still powerful and needs to be respected.

1st major bombing effort in Japan goes into Sapporo.

74K fires dropping to 36K the next morning with no appreciable damage yet. Fingers crossed some of those engine factories burn.

The first day of fires burning at Sapporo yielded 28 damaged engine factory points and a bit of damage to the resources and Heavy Industry.

It also caused MrKane to double the amount of fighters to 500+

Does aircraft factory damage work the same way as other damage = 1000 supply at 1 point per day. or is it based on the same method as when they are being renovated?

More factories burn. The number is 70 now. The bad news is that the weather at Shikuka is horrible in the winter and blizzards have closed the base for any return strikes. Also the number of fighters has doubled and a huge amount of activity on the mainland south of Sapporo indicates likely AA reinforcements ASAP.

Asahikawa and Muroran are likely going to be covered by Sapporo's CAP, but Hakodate and Kushiro have a bit of industry too and might not be CAP'd. Can your aircraft reach them? Taking out the shipyard at Hakodate would be a PITA for him. I think the next nearest is Yokosuka.
