Didn't tailhook already post that news?

"The deal is being finalized for the creation of the Maritime Strike Tomahawk (MST). An unspecified number of missiles will be given the upgrade which includes new sensors and a new warhead, and the ability to operate in a "GPS denied Environment"

About modernization of project 1155 "Admiral Shaposhnikov" (planned end of modernization 2018)

from AO"Dalzavod" plan of purchase for 2017:
Justification of the purchase --- Letter ONS 753-7-555 of 28.07.2015, order 06326;
Subject of the agreement --- products of 3S-14-1155;
Information on the number (volume) --- 2;
Supplier (with ZEP) --- JSC "KBSM", St. Petersburg

in russian : http://zakupki.rosneft.ru/node/220427
So, modernized "Shaposhnikov"(order 06326) will have two UKSK 3S-14-1155
in addition to 2x4 2S-24 "Uran" launchers and TK-25 ESM/ECM ,new MR-710 and 5P-30N instead of "Fregat"
instead of what all this good things will come, we will see

this is interesting because "Shaposhnikov" is model for modernization of 1155 project ships

LRASM Anti-Ship Missile Tactical Configuration Takes First Flight from USAF B-1B

quote:

The U.S. Navy and Lockheed Martin conducted the first free flight launch of the Long Range Anti-Ship Missile (LRASM) from a B-1B Lancer Aug.17 over Point Mugu Sea Range in California.

In the test over the Sea Range at Point Mugu, California, a U.S. Air Force B-1B from Edwards Air Force Base, California, released the LRASM. The missile navigated through all planned waypoints, transitioned to mid-course guidance and flew toward the moving maritime target using inputs from the onboard multimodal sensor. The missile then descended to low altitude for final approach to target area, positively identified and impacted the target.

Raytheon AN/SPY-6(V) Air and Missile Defense Radar - AMDR - Aces 2nd Ballistic Missile Test
quote:

Raytheon Company's AN/SPY-6(V) Air and Missile Defense Radar successfully searched for, acquired and tracked a ballistic missile test target during its second live-target flight test at the U.S. Navy's Pacific Missile Range Facility, Kauai, Hawaii. This test event featured a more complex, threat-representative ballistic missile target than prior tests, intended to challenge the detection and tracking capabilities of the new radar. AN/SPY-6 acquired and maintained the long-range missile target track, from launch through flight.

Not specifically military, but related to the situation the world has with NK:

"ESCAPING FROM NORTH KOREA DEFECTOR'S SEARCH FOR FREEDOM"

You will have to budget an hour to watch the disturbing video. Circa 2008, but remains pertinent.

USN is looking to upgrade the Rolling-Airframe-Missile with a "Missile-to-Missile Link". Anyone got ideas on how this will improve Pk in complex scenarios? I wonder if the weapons will be able to evaluate kills and retarget?

It's yet to start World War 3, and somewhere in between China and India had started 'World War 4' several times. Reported violent sticks and stones exchanges through many years until this one is the biggest brawl. Some soldiers on both sides are injured:

The Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI) has published a report on China's ambitions in Antarctica:

quote:

Some of China’s interests and activities in the Australian Antarctic Territory (AAT), which include undeclared military activities and mineral exploration, may be at odds with Australian strategic interests and potentially breach international law. China is rapidly expanding its presence in a triangle-shaped area within the AAT that it calls the ‘East Antarctic Sector’ and has stated in policy documents that it reserves the right to make a claim in Antarctica.

Russian Navy Special Forces to Receive P-650 Midget Submarines

The Russian Navy’s special operations forces (SOF) will receive the newest P-650 special-purpose midget submarines. These ships display just 720 tons and will be able to covertly deliver special-purpose and SOF groups to the shore and retrieve them. According to experts, it will be a response to the introduction of submarines converted by the U.S. Navy into SOF platforms, the newspaper Izvestia reported.

(Former deputy head of PLAN's armaments department) Admiral Zhao's lecture has unveiled quite a few interesting future plans in storage for China and the PLAN... Some interesting one's I'll share:

Looks like China wants a Zumwalt as the Type 055 follow on:

Translation:
-integrated electric power system(IEPS)
-full-spectrum stealthness
-integrated mast and integrated RF technology
-new type laser/kinetic energy weapons
-mid-course interception capability

And general future plans (annotation by me in the brackets):

-new type carrier borne fighter jet (Navalized J-20?)
-carrier borne electronic countermeasures aircraft (JD-15, most probably)
-carrier borne fixed wing early warning aircraft (definitely KJ-600)
-medium sized shipborne UAV (probably navalized Sharp Sword)
-stratospheric long-endurance drone (definitely the Divine Eagle)
-stratospheric airship (Yuanmeng Airship was one model we have seen before: http://www.popsci.com/china-tests-its-largest-airship)

Time will tell, but given by China is very rarely using scaled models 'that big' (they do, but only wind-tunnel models. And an actual, operable size for many prototypes) to perform RCS test. Also no cockpit element to be seen, so it's safe to say they're proposing another UCAV development.

But, don't take my words on it. PLAAF CO Xiao-Tian Ma said China is indeed developing a new long range bomber from September 2016. If what he said is legit, than this 'UCAV' model could be the first trial to seek what PLAAF needs for the new bomber, and a year later (which is one more month from now) should have an answer.

Unknown model of Chinese 155mm truck-based SPH was sighted during the railway delivery, destination unknown:

UPDATE: Henri presumed them called SH-1A, and also 2 more pictures of it posted on twitter.

UPDATE #2: Another picture revealed the train's direction is toward Kekexili/Hoh Xil, possible destination is Lasha, where the Western Theater of PLA garrison located:

So something like a MAD, but for submarines and even more effective than sonars? The range is still a lackluster though (6km).

Seems like something you'd mount in a fixed array. I'd imagine any sensors they placed in international waters would soon have a large deposit of iron placed nearby by USN 'survey' vessels...
