Doing your operations in good supply is to be desired I understand, but it's
been my experience that the Axis forces are in a foot-race with the Soviets
to get as far to the east as possible before the mud seasons start because
precious little progress will be made after the first fall. Expect to have
to fall back during the first winter, I think. Some progress can still be
made in the southern parts of the front lines. And it's been my experience
that the Soviet side get's several boat-loads of troops and material soon
after they are killed and it's only a couple of turns to get the tired units
railed to Moscow where they may rest for a turn before Elmer ships them back
out to the front. One of the best defenses against the Axis units is the
"Robin Hood" defense where you just pull everybody to the east as fast as
possible, destroy the bridges behind you, and be meanwhile building a proper
front lines somewhere between the retreating units and the Soviet reserves.
Say around Orsha and Gomel. That way they have the manpower and the forts
enough to stand their places in front lines. Especially backed up by a lot
of the best arty in the world at the time. So you need to get there before
they have built up properly, while they are still relatively sparse and
weak and haven't dug in a lot. Russians are experts in digging in especially
in hexes that have some engineering equipment/troops present.

I've seen the air shock value change rapidly in the early game period so it's
up to the Axis player to take advantage of the air shock diffference while he
can. Say the first three turns or so. The idea is to shoot down as many
Soviet planes as possible ( three-dot attacks ) or better yet is airfield
strikes to bomb them on the ground. The idea is to balance the killing of
enemy units and the resting of the bombers.

The Finns are going to need the Axis side to dispense with the Soviet BB's
near Leningrad before they can mount any sucessful attacks close to the
stop line. Stuka's are good for that mission but they will need escorts
as they are fragile.

Also, pay attention to the cost of entering hexes because of the BTS cost
that may be there. I get lazy and my units don't get to move as far as
they could. Try to get as many rounds of combat per turn as you can.
I've seen round 7 only once but several rounds per turn are possible. I
usually try to spend 30% on the first and subsequent rounds with the 4th
round being the "clean-up" round where all attacks can proceed reguardless
of the time cost.

I see you making some good moves, good for you. And I like how you don't
get on rambling writing where you try to cover everything. Short and concise,
I like that. Keep up the good work.
