I'd guess four by the numbers if this is consistent with your previous views of the planes. 18 x 4 = 75 for fighters.

Oh. I was thinking the numbers of planes might still be unreliable in the mouse over. I was ready to accept 6 carriers because a) he has had time to get them together, and b) he might be concentrating to deal with the arrival of Hornet. We are using variable reinforcement dates (I forget which number we chose) so he can't be sure: Hornet arrives in about 15 days at the Panama canal.

Can we get a glimpse of the "lucky number scorecard"? (I will always remember my dad when I was pre teen
at the Oriole games checking the "lucky number" in the program.) I always have angst at this juncture when
Singpore and Bataan fall swaying the VPs and making AV look inevitable.

I did not even check it this turn!

I am still concerned about most/all of China falling this game, and I'm pretty sure the VP for all those bases was a large factor in the VP equation last game. I overcame it but the Allies' LCU losses was such a large number it took forever to get that piece in the Allies favor. Also, in China and elsewhere I have not been able to deliver much hurt at all to IJ ground forces. Just a bit here and there.

I'm working hard to get the air forces ready before major air battles begin. The navies are mostly being marshaled for battles that matter strategically in conditions as favorable as I can make them. By holding the USN carriers in place I've been able to conserve tremendous amounts of fuel at a time when I had much less capacity to move fuel, so I should have plenty available for them to move fast when the time comes.

KB1, in the sights of USS Plunger. In addition to other large USN subs we have a number of S-boats assigned to the waters south of here. They have less unreliable torpedoes.

� KB2 spotted at Singapore (CS, CV, CVL).

� We are aiming to make Pago Pago a hard target so it can withstand significant enemy assault in the absence of the USN carriers. With the units noted below plus the 2x USN Port Maint Eng Bns already on the way the island will have great building capacity to improve defenses and enough firepower to punish any invasion force. The building of additional fortifications (after the airfield reaches 5) will increase resistance to naval bombardment. The supplies already on route will provide significant staying power. Although conventional wisdom is for the Empire to use fleet carriers in the DEI now to overwhelm defenses there it is possible the Empire will anticipate our USN carrier upgrades in March (Lexington class) and April (Yorktown class). All current USN carriers would be needed to resist an Imperial offensive into the Fiji/Samoa area so the Empire only needs to guess or gain SigInt/other Intel on when carriers leave for the more lengthy Lexington class upgrades. I plan to pull all carriers at once as soon as the convoys now loading have made their deliveries. If an Imperial offensive follows, Pago Pago will stand hardy and Fiji (with good supply, upgraded NZ squads, and USA reinforcement) will likely resist until our carriers return.

Is KB1 nearby or did all those carriers leave their squadrons behind? Enough of our B-17's are damaged to make a strike tomorrow have less density and therefore lessened defenses against so they will stand down. That might also make them available for a strike on KB1 in the coming days.

� KB1 is against the New Guinea coast 1 hex NW of Buna, clearly tucked in there to avoid our submarines. They are in a Jungle-Rough hex and obviously at heightened risk of the game's evil dice rolls. Our B-17's rested so did not meet KB1's fighters over Port Moresby as must have been planned by the Empire's diabolical commander. We have 5 subs on patrol nearby and none of them show any detection, proving KB1 is proceeding cloaked. Now we have them sighted, albeit under severe storms, our subs are the ones cloaked while their prey is visible.

Your opponent seems to have made a significant push through the Solomons while ignoring the DEI.

What does your defense of Palembang look like?

Are you seeking to contest it given his slowness in moving on it?

If you aren't contesting the DEI he has given you ample time and a clear path to evacuate even the short legged auxiliaries to Oz by hopping down the island chain.
