I am playing the DBB, basic I believe. I have been playing the same scenario with the same opponent, thought we have switched sides a few times, for the past 4ish years. Singapore, 1 Feb and Rangoon on 17 Feb. You are doing better with Bataan then I am but I have taken Mindanao a while ago December. I have taken Canton Island, baker Island, Tabibateau, Tarawa, Tulagie, Lae, Ambon, Kendari, Tarakan. I haven't landed on Java or Sumatra yet. I don't want to go into future plans as my opponent might be reading your AAR. I just sent off my 26 Feb turn so will find out tomorrow if I have any surprises.

AH Asahi Hospital

This should not be possible unless the Asahi Maru is disbanded in port at Bataan/Corregidor - as per scenario house rules.

The hospital ship and the embarked LCU must always remain together in the same hex.

Japanese deliberate attack at 89,38

I'm afraid that attacking the Red Chinese is not the best approach.

They are well-entrenched and have huge (but immobile, so no threat) LCUs and there isn't much at Yenan that is of value to Japan.

Historically, the Red Chinese and the Japanese did not fight each other much.

There was some Guerilla warfare, but the Japanese had nothing to gain from attacking the Red Chinese, which in turn were content to be left unmolested and being able to gather strength for the showdown with the KMT.

OTOH killing those units will yield a sizeable amount of VPs.

Good luck.

Guilty of misunderstanding the rules. I had it in my head that the unit only had to sail around with the correct hospital ship. Consider my play appropriately adjusted from here on in. I'll be checking all similar units and their ships as well.

The Red Chinese unit hasn't turned out to be too big a hassle after it was evicted from the start location. I recognise that not much is gained from Yenan apart from piece of mind knowing that it is neutralised. It may all come to nothing but then again maybe not. I'm happy to pursue things here and see what develops.

Edit. My AAR is couple of weeks behind the game so that hospital unit will show up where it shouldn't be until the AAR catches up.

Congrats on the early fall of Luzon defenses. With four divisions and a Bde you have assigned more forces than were available IRL. However, IMO It might have been a better choice to bottle-up the Allied dogs on Bataan with just two Divs and a Bde and send the other two to Malaya - early capture of Singers is more important than the PI me think.

Mundy failed to pull-out a few units which could and should have been evacuated :

The Naval HQs could have provide useful naval support in Australia.

Station CAST is of course just a role-playing element and has no impact on gameplay - I hope nonetheless that you will be able to "extract" useful information from those codebreakers!

Thanks and yes indeed, now that Luzon is done, clearing out Singapore far faster would have been more desirable. Each game is a lesson on how to do things and I will take this one on board. As for units that Mundy should have pulled out I will take whatever he gives me. He has done a good job of pulling out and leaving speed bumps here and there for me to ponder. As for the codebreakers... we have learnt that our enemy is devoting time to the black art of deception and code breaking. What should we make of this I wonder. It is of no importance. Our JN25 code is more than adequate to protect our planning from the prying eyes of our enemies.

I'm sure it is. Btw, objective AF is short of water.

A message confirming that AF is water short will soon be sent out. A special water ship will be added to the invasion fleet.
