Very strange no Spaghetti Squad this year but all streaks must end I guess.

Will be cheering for the Germans, although thinking Brazil is going to win.

Spain will be the biggest disappointment. Dark horse... England. Maybe this will be the year XD

I dont think it will be bigger than the last WC, lets see how our new manager deals with it. I trust in our squad :)

I will miss Italy and Chile, they always compete well

Saw the Women Champions League Final Wolfsburg vs Lyon game just now ; all 5 goals scored in the last 13 minutes of the game. Powerful display.

And I still do not know who won.

Portugal will win after scoring their first tournament goal in the final game in 93rd minute, with Ronaldo converting a penalty against the bewildered Germania Munchen team.

So the real WITE hast started. Saudi Arabia looked like rejects from a Luftwaffe infantry division, and Artem Dzyuba looks like a young Rokossovsky...

When I think of the wounds I've witnessed playing watching Hockey compared to what I've seen in soccer, I can tell you there is no comparison between the lethality between the two sports.

And Hockey players are Avagadro's order of magnitude tougher.

When I was in college I worked for the school newspaper and covered hockey for two years and filled in on breaks from time to time. One of our players got kicked in the boot, didn't know anything happened until the period break. Other guy's skate went through the tongue of the boot and through the tendon (I think) that runs along the top of the foot. Fortunately parallel to it wasn't sliced in half. And he played on for half a period (once they found out the extent of the injury not until the next season).

Rumor is LOTS of blood when the started taking the boot off.

Morocco 0 - 1 Iran
A spy game with lots of legstabbing, with Iran winning thanks to some goofy goodies, smuggled by a Moroccan double-agent at the very last moment.

Portugal 3 - 3 Spain
A fake internal strife just to show the Axis and Allies that the two nations want to remain neutral.

Egypt 0 - 1 Uruguay
Well, seems the Suez Canal will be shut for the entire war.

Noumea - Australia 2:1
That is why you need to haul fuel to Oz - the Kanga Force must fire on all the cylinders.

Falklands - Reykjavik Radio Station 1:1
Battle of the Atlantic Redux and the Argie pocket battleship malfunctioned in the heat of the battle. Meh.

Croatia 2 - 0 Nigeria
How come these two units ended up in the sieged Konigsberg?

Peru 0 - 1 Denmark
The Peru unit was stuck off-map for 32 years, has just joined the war and lost. What gives?

Partisans - Costa Rica 1:0
Costa Rica got spanked for hosting that secret Kriegsmarine base.

Mexico-Germany 1:0
Mexico says "No" to the Zimmermann Telegram again.

Brazil-Bank 1:1
Brazil tried to get the German gold - the Swiss retaliated with bunkers and guns.

You must realise that the USA isnt used to playing a true world series, play amongst themselves, maybe a Canadian or two, and claim themselves as world champions.

That may or may not be. But does anyone know how much longer this thing goes on?

I didn't really know what was happening, but yes, it was a great sporting event. Regretting the USA isn't in this one.

Don't worry, we're approaching the point by which the USA is out anyways. Elimination rounds. Watching US soccer can be painful. I tried watching the MLS once and it was just bad compared to the skill of the premier league. I sometimes wonder how good the US would be if Soccer was far and away our #1 sport like it is elsewhere.

Still, I don't really mind our mediocrity that much if it means we get to watch awesome sports like Real Football (tm), basketball, and hockey.

Watching soccer is painful - good, bad, indifferent. WORSE when a two sport athlete breaks her ankle before basketball season starts.

Watching football is great when teams know how to play, the problem is often they seldom do it.
