The LCMs fit as well. They're only 17m long.

Thanks Andrea G - no need for a save I know what the problem is!

I'm just back home now and will get an update out in a couple days.

To fix and keep playing - are you comfortable in the editor?

-Go to actions - open up the action Lua-C-141 at Thumrait (or something close to that)
-Copy all but the last line (the one that has the message with the extra quote marks in it)
-Go to the Lua Consul, (editor menu at the bottom.
-Paste the code in the bottom window and hit run

The ammo will be at Thumrait

If your not comfortable doing that, send me the file and I'll fix and send back.

Sorry bout that.

Well I think I can manage that, if I mess up something I will ring you

Lol...that's what I get for just reading what type they use vs looking at the actual"size"..

My bad...

ive been playing this.... only into it a while.... i only have couple comments at this early point....
MPS Sqn 2 Det has such high value units.. that to be escorted by a single knox seems imprudent...
with a potential air threat from Socotra... at least a couple of aircraft with A/A loadouts would seem reasonable...
the cargo operations would be fun.....

Thanks magi

- NATO PG (my short form for NATO forces in the Persian Gulf) is fighting a war with Iran (IO Fury #1). Most of the units on the map have specific tasks - either to come to you with special actions or to support various elements through the game. Have you activated the special actions?
- 100% correct on MPS Sqn 2, you fight the war with what you have but there are some measures you might take as a player to mitigate it a bit.
- I believe that there are a couple Sea Harriers on the Ark Royal and you also have a special action that might help.

Good evening.
Love the scenario.
How do I pick up downed pilots with search and rescue helos?

Thanks

I have just landed the marines in Socotra, so far so good, no glitch to report.

I have just a few questions regarding the cargo aircraft, that maybe are not scenario specific:
Kenya Airways Charter #1 at Nairobi is ready, with a loadout of Passengers 102x, 10.2 tons, but cannot load any cargo.
The UH-1N on board Peleliu, with a loadout of Marines 4x, Hydra Rockets, cannot load any cargo.

The Transalls haven't the range to reach Laikipia from Libreville.

I have never been able to rescue any pilot, most of them were too far from the SAR planes, only on one occasion I was able to reach a downed crew with a Gazelle SAR from Djibouti but nothing happened, the Helo reached Bingo fuel before rescuing the pilot.

Now it's time to move to Perim Island.

I hovered over the pilot with a search and rescue helicopter till it bingoed. Nothing.

There is no cargo for the 707. I moved it to one of the islands to pick up cargo.
Hoping it works.

Also have 2 helos loaded with troops but can't place them on marker city as required. Ugh.

The 'cargo' spawn in once this aircraft reaches Djibouti.

You'll have to refuel somewhere along the way.

Gunner98,
Hello again.

I had to restart. Now using the V1.7.

Up to about 12z the first day. Received the following message:
9:52:30 AM LUA execution error: [string “C-141 arrives Djibouti];12:”)”expected near “Rhino”
( saw the previous post regarding this issue. Wasn’t sure which version that was on)
This message was in tandem with the C-141 arrival message. Note that most of the VMA-214 was in crew rest in Thumrait. I was transferring them through there as a safe corridor. I don’t know if that is a possible impact on that event. After about 2hs no cargo.

Special action for tornados has Kuwait spelled Kuwate.

So, far challenging scenario.
Thanks again for making them!

What about the cargo that is at Nairobi?
Yes I guessed that the C-130 at Laikipia was there for this purpose but only after I have sent it to Djibouti, too bad

Another glitch about the C-141, it doesn't work even at Djibouti

16:45:45 - 16:45:45 - Lua script execution error: [string "C-141 arrives Djibouti"]:12: ')' expected near 'Rhino'

16:45:45 - 16:45:45 - Event: 'C-141 arrives Djibouti' has been fired.

SPOILERS AHEAD

Socotra has been capture and is ready to be engineered.

The first try at Perim was a bloodbath, my frenchmen landed from the Pumas and were shredded by the defenders.
Got to move the AV-8 from Thumrait to Djibouti and sanitize the island.

Now I have also to ferry and protect some pinko politician to Ethiopia, but being an Italian idea I will gladly comply.

Hay guys

Am on the road so will be checking in from time to time,

Will try and wrap up all the points above:

Search & Rescue. This is an adaption of some great script from angster. I probably messed it up but any unit - usually helicopter or boat that stays in a small area at below 50knts (I think, might be 65) should trigger the rescue. If its not working than it is an issue I'll need to work on.

Many of the short range transports across Africa will have to make multiple stops to get troops to Djibouti. I haven't played it out but on a paper it should mean about 36 hrs in transit before all troops are in place for an attempt on the BeM

I'll check on the UH-1N but I think they can load about 4 pers (FOO party size)

The Kenya Airways flight, will spawn ~100 troops in Djibouti when it lands and the same number of troops in Nairobi will disappear. The troops at Laikipia have to get shunted up on transport aircraft.

trebor6669 - not sure I understand your points. Which 707? There are civilian pattern AC at Niarobi and in the Comoros, they both operate as mentioned above. Which marked cities?

I thought I had cleaned up the Lua events with the C-141s. The problem is in the message, where the call sign had quotes around it and it confused the lua script. The fix above will work but I will need to go through that again. Irritating, and I feel bad about that one.

The Troops at Nairobi will disappear with the spawn in Djibouti.

Enjoy the discussion with the Italian diplomats :-)

I should be able to take a look in more detail Wed or thur and will try and get an update out.

Thanks guys.

I assumed we'd need to load troops and equipment of the 707 (Moroni) like the military aircraft.
Since there was no cargo at Moroni, I flew the 707 to Roland to load cargo.
Didn't know it would work as you described.

I have two Super Pumas from Djibouti with 40 troops at the Fatwa Island marker.

Found the way?
I suggest you to give a try at the Cargo Tutorial, to get the basics before tackling this monster; I did the same.

Agree. SirAndrew's cargo tutorial is a great way of learning the basics, as are Baloogan's videos on it.

The comment did raise a concern that some of the islands my be too small and not actually have enough land to place troops on. Will need to check that out.

I posted a DB change request a while back on this one - www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3436106&mpage=133&key= (pg 133 I think)

Any other load for the UH-1 works. There are a couple other anomolies also posted to the DB request thread.

OK, here is version 1.8 with a bunch of minor fixes:

-the C-141 glitch should be gone now - finally
-Added some script for the AAVs, they are not swim-able in game, so just leave them on the mothership, when an LCU (about the same speed) arrives off the coast of central Socotra, the AAV Coy will spawn in - currently this is at a fixed point east of the base but eventually it will be in proximity to the LCU. The AAVs will then be removed from the mothership.

Thanks for your help so far.

gunner.... i like this scenario a lot..... however i figured the armed fishing boats were tattletales right away and am prosecuting them.... if you could mix them with honest commercial shipping on different sides of something it would be more confusing... or maybe red satellite passes would help...
