The officer cards results in the game are not as described in the documentation:

The game announces the following bonuses when the cards are played:
Dig in = 20 def bonus
Elastic = 10 def, 30 entrench
In Depth = 60 entrench

This is not what is documented in the manual.

Hi mssm,

The manual was written as the game was being finalised and there are a few minor descrepancies as well as some changes due to subsequent patches.

On the VR website there is a list of Manual Errata

With regard to the cards that you've mentioned the bonuses they provide are dependant on the quality of the Commander who is playing them.

The same card played by two different Commanders can give different results. One Commander might be better at defence, than the other, for example.

The manual explains this on p.161.

Hi Cameron,

Thanks for the fast reply and for this excellent game.

I can't see anything about the defence posture officer cards in the errata. Also the errata is not up to date with the latest version of the game.

The bonuses that I indicated above are related to Von Kluge. He has a +60 entrench bonus that I would expect to get with the dig in card, but it was not the case.

Also the entrench bonus was not reflected in the entrench level of the units, meaning that it remained the same as before playing the card.
But I could see in the unit status report that the unit received some extra defence equipment.

Hi Michel,

Thanks for the extra information as it helps to figure out what the issue is.

The 'Dig In' card is detailed on p.161 of the manual, along with the other defensive cards. Easy to miss as, hey, it's a big manual.

Units can entrench up to a certain level depending on the terrain (p.118 of the manual, there's a table). So Von Kluge with his +60 entrench bonus would add that to the default 'auto entrench' value of the unit, per turn, and would keep doing so until they have reached their maximum entrenchment value for that terrain.

If a unit is already at their maximum entrenched value then the card isn't going to help them. It's more a case of them being able to dig in a lot faster (150% faster in the case of Von Kluge's troops) than normally.

I'd check if they have reached their max. value. Also if you play the card one turn any effect won't apply till the next.

The 'Report Status' button doesn't show the level of the unit's entrenchment as it's displayed as part of the unit stats (pic showing where p.117).

If the above doesn't cover it, let me know.
