Admittedly I was a bit disappointed to find out that the game doesn't have a campaign mode, expected it to be present for the launch. Are there any plans for it at least?

Yes we are planning to add campaigns but we do not have an ETA yet. These are going to be a series of scenarios, branching depending on battle results.

That's great news. I'm really pleased at how this title is coming along! Loved Steel Panthers back in the day. More recently, I sunk many happy hours into Flashpoint Campaigns: Red Storm. However, I'm not as interested in the sandbox aspect, much preferring the drama of linked missions and an overall storyline. Once one or more campaigns come out for Armored Brigade, I'll be purchasing this title for sure.

Is it then all scenario based only or is there also a "sand box" mode with some kind of skirmish mode ?

Indeed there is more than the pre-made scenarios. The Battle Generator is the heart of the game. You can generate fresh battles in seconds.

The power and simplicity of the mission generator is the best thing about this game in my opinion. Also really love the way you pick the part of the map you are fighting on. With imagination you can string your own battles together in your head if you want. I’m not the only one telling my own WW3 story in my head while playing am I?

I wonder if some of Flashpoint scenarios could be used as a template?

No, I'm thinking about that as well. What I'm really excited about, is firing up my one of my Central Front series boardgames, and replaying key battles from the boardgame using this engine - depending on the outcome, move the counters on the boardgame appropriately. Scale is a little different, but I think it can be done. Would need a way of altering the starting ToE in a generated battle (to represent losses/breakdowns etc).

Cheers

I wondered about using ATG or TOAW as the campaign manager.

Likewise, I think that would work well enough. You just use edit move to place units wherever and keep track of what is where, then fight all the battles in AB!

Pretty sure you can load graphic files into ATG. That invites us to use the same map graphic in both ATG and AB. ATG has a very flexible orbat structure, and it would handle the operational level contacts quite well, but their might be a problem calculating supply as it tends to be a bit abstract.
