WW1 sounds like the most exciting of the options. WW3 always leaves me asking, what would prevent the player from using atomic weapons. And that leads me to ask, why would anyone want to play that.

This suggestion is definitely not worth a main title, but there was a really interesting mod attempted in SC2 called Gold & Glory. It was set in modern time, had set majors but every other nation was neutral. Diplomacy hits were always 50% and every country in the world was up for grabs. Other then the first few turns there were no scripts so it wouldn't even be that difficult to create as a fun PBEM side scenario, aside from developing flags, country boundaries and laying out the right unit/research structure i'm not sure what else there would be to do.

The thing is it's a lot of work to draw up something from scratch which is why a lot of ambitious mods are never finished, maybe at a community level it is possible. Without naming anyone there are certain active users that have displayed ability to develop efficiently 1) Flags 2) Accurate Maps 3) Unit Sprites. With that out of way then someone could focus on game design which would be setting the capitals, on map unit set up, country IDs, Unit statistics etc. To be certain I am not volunteering

I already have a mod and its fun to update/design but I couldn't imagine another project.

Vive La Revolution! Could have a variety of scenarios from 7 Years war to 1789 to 1805 without doing much in the way of revisions
