ORIGINAL: Rosseau Stating the obvious is my specialty, but it looks like it will give The Operational Art of War IV a serious run for its money. As I posted in another thread, the games aren't even comparable. This is a strategic level game akin to Strategic Command (1 unit per hex, huge hexes, production/research/diplomacy) whereas TOAW is an entire operational system that focuses mainly on the military aspects and eschews production/research/diplomacy. This game isn't going to give TOAW a run for its more anymore than Hearts of Iron, AT: Gold, or Strategic Command did because TOAW isn't trying to do the same thing as those games. I'm very excited for this game but there's so many things that TOAW can do that it can't (and vice versa). This game can't model units down to squad level and individual equipment level, it doesn't have a database covering entire 20th century worth of units and equipment, it (to my knowledge) doesn't replicate the impact of time like TOAW does. On the other hand, TOAW is very limited when it comes to "strategic" aspects like research/diplomacy/production, because it is an "operational" game. That is correct. Each game is different and offers different things. My goal is not to replace a game but to offer something in a niche that, to my findings, isn't currently available.
