Welcome to my war with BillBrown. We are playing with the latest Beta and using a newly updated BTS-L scenario from John III.

I am a long-time AE player, having played several games as the Allies, some stock, others with mods.

I've been an infrequent poster on the forum and have not conducted any AARs. However, I read the forum most every day and have learned much from the posted AARs. I will try to provide frequent status reports and will appreciate any commentary and advice. I'm by no means an expert but hopefully I'll be able to keep Bill out of San Francisco Bay.

Before AE, I played WitP and Uncommon Valor. Before that, I go all the way back to Avalon Hill boardgames.

Bill will have plenty of time for Japan's Turn 1. I'll be leaving on the morning of July 11 for whitewater rafting in Idaho. I should be back in action on July 19.

These are options and first turn house rules.

REALISM OPTIONS
FOW ON
Advanced weather ON
Allied damage control ON
PDU ON
Historical first turn OFF
Dec 7 surprise ON
Reliable USN torps OFF
Realistic R&D ON
No unit withdrawals OFF
Reinforcements +/- 0

GAME OPTIONS
Combat reports ON
Auto sub ops OFF
TF move radius ON
Plane move radius ON
Facilities expand OFF
Auto upgrade ships and airgroups OFF
Air and ground replacements OFF
Turn cycle 1 TURN

1. Allied TF that exist on turn one can change their orders, no new TFs can be created
2. Only ground and air units either in China or attached to China Command can be given orders on turn 1.
3. No deep penetrations by the Japanese( No Mersing turn 1, no Palambang, etc. )

Thanks for taking on Bill and creating an AAR. Have fun on your trip and hope that is the only time you will be getting wet during the game. I dare say many of us have cut our teeth on AH games and others and then did the same as you going from UV, WITP, AE. Remember the earliest version of GG's Pacific War grand campaign game. I miss the old games.I really like EA's Carriers at War on my Commodore 64.

Welcome and I truly appreciate you doing an AAR.

PLEASE take a bunch of time to look around the map. The Allied dispositions are TOTALLY changed for Dec 7th. Make sure to look in the Aleutians, the Line Islands, and Ceylon. You have so many more ships then Scenario 1, it is hard to describe.

Load Juan's off-map aircraft purchase system. This will give you access to more Allied airframes if and when needed.

Will jump in with whatever you need.

HUZZAH!

Back in action after taking in the beautiful scenery and great whitewater in the Idaho wilderness.

Turn 1 recap.

Pearl Harbor was hit but damage was not extensive. No capital ships were sunk. Only 1 BB has system damage over 40. Several have flotation damage in the 70s. No damage to CAs. One CL, 4 DDs, and 2 SSs with moderate damage. Many damaged aircraft but not many destroyed. Airfield Service Damage at 36 with Runway Damage at 48.

The airfields in the PI were hit pretty good, but not a lot of planes were destroyed. 8 subs sunk along with several xAK and xAP. No landings but an amphib TF sighted SE of Mindanao.

In Malaya, Force Z routed to Batavia for now. There was a landing at Kota Bharu and a TF has been sighted off Groot Natoena. I expect it is headed for Mersing or points south. Got a xAK with a Dutch sub off Kota.

The only other landing was at Guam.

I've ordered the 18th Brit Div to Bombay for now. As much fuel as possible will be evacuated from the DEI. I expect him to hit Palembang quickly due to Japan’s need to take fuel resources in this scenario.

In Java, I will consolidate forces to defend but have not yet decided where.

In Burma, I will defend the Road as long as possible and will try to move supply to Rangoon for movement north to China.
In the South Pacific, I've decided to defend in force as far forward as Suva. There are more naval forces available due to the French fleet at Tahiti. Supplies and units will move from the US as soon as possible.

China itself will see most of the units able to change commands heading to India. I want to get them into the well supplied bases in India and then start filling them out. I'll do the same for almost all the Chinese Air Force.
Will build forts in India (and everywhere else) and try to consolidate to defend Bombay and Karachi. Delhi will build up airfield.

I’ll be working on Turn 2 for a couple of days.

As said earlier, look around the map. You have ships in all sorts of locations. Don't forget the French down in Tahiti. Force Z going to Batavia makes sense. You have LOTS of several CAs, a good number of CLs, and LOTS of DDs spread around the DEI.
