Actually 9 factions is not that bad, assuming you would be splitting them up in: Athens Thebes Argos Corinth Sparta Persia Olynthos (never heard of it) The cities on the Chalkidiki peninsula (the same) Macedonia Something about Sparta and Persia being one that didn't fancy me much. Well, whatever is decided, you should begin considering their relative economic strengths to each other. That is what is the total amount of production you would want each side to have. This will have a profound influence on the games balance. So be careful not to give one side too much or the other for that matter. A good way to think of what they produce would be to translate it into Political Points. Now those may also be too abstract to get a good read on things, but imagine they are gold, and you can buy mercenaries by using them. I am assuming that for instance Persia won't be able to produce the same types of units as Sparta, so there is no way to compare the two... Another thing that needs to be done is to find out where the borders go, and which cities you want to be represented. These are all questions that need to be answered, and cannot be answered by anyone other than you. quote:
ORIGINAL: sbatman Ideally, these five factions: -Athens and Thebes -Argos and Corinth -Sparta and Persia -Olynthos and the cities on the Chalkidiki peninsula -Macedonia But given resource limitations (my money and your time) I would be alright with decreasing the number of factions to three: Athens, Sparta, and Persia.
