I also look south. This was a key hex which needed to be moved so I could EXPLOIT!

mu big south exploit results in a minor surround.

But this part of river line is good to take. the most direct route to Stalino.

He is retreating so fast he cant build any decent lines and I am not sending my tanks deep

VV final.

Nice pocket. I think it should hold but no guarantee. If it does not hold my whole timetable will be disrupted.

Pelton did this pocket on me the first time we played.

Good to see an AAR of this game. Lets hope the game will remain undecided for a long time since BrianG anyway and Bitburger likely too are in for the long run.

I think your opponent is a bit overcommitted in front of your infantry East of the Pripyat Marshes and therefore lacks depth elsewhere=pockets. Your Leningrad right hooks is turning into an uber right hook atm.

Regards
EvK

Did I ever see a hook that far east ? Would be nice to get a pic of railheads. OTH it's t9 and railhead could be close. It's my guess that BrianG tries to avoid the swamps just east of Volhhov river.

situation looks pretty grim for the soviets on T9. That's a lot of units to be lost....will force a fall back from Leningrad area for sure as he has nothing left between Moscow/Leningrad in that sector...the south is well the south and the soviets basically can only give space in that sector the way the game is balanced during this patch series.

The pocket barely holds:

I guess maybe I can seal pockets

My rr repair is close. Its hiding under my forward air base. I am going south of Lake Ilmen

I was only able to eliminate half the pocket. Units were well supplied and had retreat routes.

north final.

At this point I don't think Bitburg is clearly aware of my attentions.

he has not done good job sensing this thrust or being aware of his Leningrad mortal danger.

final south.

I highlight my panzer army.

Also my blue tank corp is finally near the rr. still low on fuel. they will be shipped west, north and then onto Tula area just in time for attacks in that area.

I like to try to get the 6th army AGS/ 4th army AGC border as close to the Oka at as I could at this point. The 6th army can thin out and screen a long line while this would allow 4th army to super concentrate on the main goal.

yes, 4th army must concentrate, they are the fist that is needed to smash through Moscow's defense should you go for it.

I like your right hook. I deeply regret not having done that in my current game

Bitburger is clearly using a runner strategy, but I fear for him he gave you a little too many men and units with that Kuvshinovo pocket, it will make carpeting more difficult for him. That is what he must avoid at all costs with a runner strategy. Leningrad looks doomed now. But there is still time I think for him at Moscow. Interesting situation for sure. I'm curious to see his next move, and also yours.

agreed looks interesting.. surprised he is still trying to hold Leningrad strong on T11 after that pocket.....Think a retreat east then south to cover norther Moscow would have been the better move...also its leaving a lot of units up north getting closer and closer to being in danger of being pocketed.
