From the Squad Battles: Vietnam folder on Consimworld.com: -------------------------------------------------- James Rapkins - 09:33am Nov 2, 2001 PST (#42 of 42) SB Monkey / Squad Battles Team member I'm very pleased to announce the arrival of Wild Bill Wilder to the SB Team. Wild Bill is going to be the driving force behind a future title, but for now he's having to learn how to play the game Wild Bill also brings along with him his vaunted capain of Wild Bill's Raiders, the well-known scn design group for SPWAW, in the form of Louie "Gung Ho" Marsh. I welcome them both aboard and look forward to having them work on this great series with us. ------------------------------------------------- Guys, SB:V is a John Tiller game published by HPS Sims, the Panzer Campaigns people. The post I pasted above came from http://talk.consimworld.com:8082/WebX.cgi?13@64.wamaaTmZjTc^9@.ee6ea57/41 Wild Bill left to join a DIFFERENT game team? Man, SPWAW really IS being abandoned! :-( Feldwebel1

Bill retired from active participation on the business end of Matrix, he did not say he was going off to find a cave I wish him the best of luck supporting Squad Battles, as he has supported Combat Mission, TOAW and other games besides the SP series. I will certainly not be surprised to see a Wild Bill byline on scenarios for a Matrix product or two in the future! WB loves wargames and the hobby is better for him spreading his talant around!

Exactly! I have seen many game forums holding him in high regard. We would like to think he is an SPWAW only guy but he is a very likeable person and has been actively involved in many projects. I agreee. He will be around it just won't be every day all the time. Besides I think he posted here earlier today or late yesterday. [ November 02, 2001: Message edited by: Double Deuce ]

You are very kind gentlemen. Thank you so very much. I'm still around. I'll never walk away from this camaraderie and the many friends I have here. No way! A new experience and a new opportunity. I needed it and I am enjoying it. Like all of you, however, I am a SPWAW'er to the end. I don't think I'll ever quit playing it in some version. Again, these thoughts mean so very much to me personally. Wild Bill

Hey all you guys
There is life outside of Matrix and Steel Panthers eh. I know myself I have bought many wargames over the years. I didnt stop buying games just because I thought the world revolved around Squad Leader after all.
I bought World In Flames even though I owned Advanced Third Reich. I bought the card game L5R even though I was awash in many years worth of Magic the Gathering. I own the Alternity RPG even though I mouthed off how the game couldnt get any better than the Saga system.
Heck I can even remember saying I detested playing wargames on my computer. WB drop in and say hello to ole gang when you can. All your past efforts will always ensure your posts are well looked forward to. Good luck in any venture you wander into in the future. If you find some sparkly game out there, be sure to give us the scoop of course. You wont be missed, because you havent really left. Once a fan always a fan.

Bill contacted me over at the Depot about 4 - 5 years ago. Stopped in to say hello, and then promptly disappeared again. I know that a few folks have sorta kept in touch with him over the years,
MattR for one.

Wild Bill got religion and doesn't wargame anymore. He's elderly now. I contacted him on Facebook a few years ago and he told me as much.

Hey there Mike! God, do I miss the old days of SP:WaW.. when anything with the game was possible and Matrix had their heart in it.

Hey man, me too, I remember when we first started to develop it, Scott Grasse had made his SPIII Mod Steel Lightning, man were we jacked up!! I just fired up enhanced on my win 10 rig, works but is in a box, any idea what the current version folks are playing is, and is there a way to make the screen full screen? Also the arty dialog is not usable, remember something from that years ago?! Are Alby and those guys still around?

Yo!!
Warhorse.

The Enhanced version from the Depot is still the new standard, and the most up-to-date.
If ya want Full -full-screen, may I steer you towards a nice little program called DxWnd. If you're interested I can steer you towards a read-me for SPWaW.

Good to see you're still around.

cheers

MM

Hey Major Mess! Sure, that would be great! Guess what, after all these years, am STILL doing graphics, and still for Matrix/Slitherine, only it's the Campaign Series now, my other love of computer games!

Hi Mike!!

Good day to you!

Here is a LINK to a read.me about DxWnd. One really nice feature that was brought onboard a few revisions ago was the ability to use OpenGL to handle the graphics. **

** I'm on real shaky ground here as I can't even pretend to know how or why ........... but from what I can understand OpenGL uses the computer hardware to render the graphics, and that DirectX uses the software, and that DxWnd ports the DirectX commands to the OpenGL thingie, or something.
Anyways, that with bi-linear filtering applied does seem to improve the visuals a bit. YMMV.

Anyways give 'er a try, lemme know what you think.

cheers, and a Happy New Years to y'all.

Major Mess

Edit already.
My reading comprehension is dropping LOL. I should have re-read your post.
You would like full-screen soooooooo,

I haven't felt the need to do this, but from looking at the Help file you've got a few different ways of skinning this cat.
In the Main tab:
I would try this first.
Generic tab - Run in Window & Fullscreen only
clear everything else on that tab.

If that didn't do the trick ....
Generic - Run in Window
Position - Desktop work area

Whichever way works for you, I'd then go in to the Video tab and in Windows style click either modal, or thin frame. I can't remember which works better. The Help file will explain all.

Good Luck!!!!

I just realized we necro'ed a thread that's almost twenty years old about a game that's almost thirty years old. Tell me again why Matrix stopped supporting SP?
