Just got a MadEx at the Return to Base digression for the aborted G3M2. Am going to have to replay this entire combat but have to pop out for half an hour. Back later.

We both got this so I suspect it will simply happen again. I had trouble with naval air aborts when playing Mayhemizer. Trouble is I can't choose another option as that means killing a carrier plane (which I can't afford to do).

However if that is the only way to continue the game then so be it. I will replay this later with a carrier plane destroyed and see what happens.

Okay that worked. So when you replay can you destroy the D3A1 (Val) and then reduce the bombs on the other carrier air and one of the G3M2's please. I'm going to lose the carrier anyway so I might as well lose the plane and keep the game going. Really, really disappointing that this aspect of the game is still having problems in this latest version.

Edit: Also I can't see any definition of friendly sea area in RAC. Did the DX pilots survive?

It's 14.6.4. I think the pilots on the two DX rolls (5 and 4) should survive as there are friendly ships in the sea area.

I've managed to get the result you originally wanted. Aborted the G3M2 and 2 points from the CVP's. Had to immediately do the RTB for the aborted bomber. Once that was done, it went back to do the reductions for the two CVP's. Are you happy to continue?

I'm going to lose the carrier anyway so happy with the carrier air being shot down. But if you've re-done it then don't go through all that again. So long as there was no manipulation of the game to get around the madexcept - that means we've just stored up more trouble for later - then we can go with what you've got.

I've got it saved at the AA step now, so not much to re-do. Nothing manipulated to get around the MadEx and worked okay, so shouldn't be storing up problems.

I'll destroy the 3-point CVP so the result will be the same in terms of surviving factors, if that's okay?

Yeah that's fine if its not too much effort. Thank-you.

Re-done with the CVP destroyed.

The Junyo succumbs to multiple hits from the US dive bombers. Where do the Japanese wish to place the 'D'?

The Tenryu takes severe damage and the Kitakami gets minor splinter damage from near misses. Where do the Japanese place the final 'A'?

I went with the computer roll as it was irrelevant what the result was.

What if a 9 or 10 was rolled - wouldn't that still be a half abort?

It would be but 2 1/2 aborts adds up to a full abort anyway.

Ah okay - I was thinking in terms of miss.

Right then, the CV is Hornet please.

The Japanese pilots do a thorough job on the Hornet.

US stays and fights. How about the Japanese?

Allies decline the subs.

Searches: Allies 8, Axis 6. Both sides lose contact.

Where do Kitakami and Tenryu abort to?

South China Sea.

Dutch sub initiates and Spitfire from Singapore flies to the 0-box.

Japanese have A6M2's at Java and Bangkok that can reach 3-box and B5N2 at Tarakan that can reach 2-box. Any fliers?

Chinese Bostons try a ground strike on the units at Canton. Japanese CVP can intercept if it wishes?
