This isn't exactly Greyjoy territory but my first lucky hit. Most raids were turned back by storms in the hex, these are the only hits she took.

Maybe. Fog of war and all; but she disappeared from all further air raids that day.

Very SAD!

Nice work.

I lost Mutsu to a lousy mine hit in my current game.

If a ship shows "....,and is sunk" in the Combat report, doesn't that ALWAYS mean it actually sank? 100% confirmed?

I always thought that was the case

If true I would have to add it to the list of little things I have somehow managed to not know for all these years...

Those 'little things' tend to occur ALL the time for me!

I believe so too. I think it means observers actually see the ship go, instead of still floating in a a very damaged state (that would be a heavy fires, heavy damage for you)

I know how to make the ship impervious.... don't build it.

It was probably the Yamato anyway. The intel reports are always talking about the wrong ships.

"Previous reports of sinking of Musashi incorrect. Ship sighted at Takao."

Then 6 months later: "Loss of Yamato admitted".

How likely, or unlikely, would you say that two Mk 13 torpedo hits are to make the magazine explode on the BB Musashi? Not in the game, but in a hypothetical, what if, historical event?

True, but smoking in the magazine, and in when at battle stations, and is severe storms. Such a man wouldn't, in my humble opinion, have access to the magazine. Such a person would have been weeded out long before the ship left port. Right?

Besides, it don't think they have powder on the floor in the magazine so can really a cigarette explode it?

What usually goes up first is not the cordite which is the main propellant but the black powder which is very unstable around heat and pressure. The black powder sets off the cordite charge in the breech of the gun.

Think of when they used nitrocellulose. They used it as the main propellant in big guns as well as billiard/pool balls. Sometimes the billiard/pool balls would explode when they hit each other. Not a very good idea in the old West of the USA with drunk cowboys with pistols.

IME it means that the ship was observed to sink by your pilots/naval ships so it is always true. Pretty hard to miss a magazine explosion too!

The Yamatos had well-studied flaws in joints of the armor belt, which apparently would become disconnected from the main hull upon torpedo impact.
