This isn't exactly Greyjoy territory but my first lucky hit. Most raids were turned back by storms in the hex, these are the only hits she took.

Maybe. Fog of war and all; but she disappeared from all further air raids that day.

pontiouspilot -> RE: Another Musashi Magazine (4/12/2020 7:21:08 PM)

magazine explosion says it all!!....in an AI game early on I sank Yamato with a PT boat attack.

Very SAD! [:'(]

Nice work.

I lost Mutsu to a lousy mine hit in my current game.

Q-Ball -> RE: Another Musashi Magazine (4/12/2020 9:28:26 PM)

If a ship shows "....,and is sunk" in the Combat report, doesn't that ALWAYS mean it actually sank? 100% confirmed?

I always thought that was the case

Elessar2 -> RE: Another Musashi Magazine (4/13/2020 12:24:18 AM)

Annnd here I thought it would be an article about the ship in some periodical...

Zorch -> RE: Another Musashi Magazine (4/13/2020 12:29:16 AM)

Just who does Musashi think she is? A WWI British BC?

If true I would have to add it to the list of little things I have somehow managed to not know for all these years...

John 3rd -> RE: Another Musashi Magazine (4/13/2020 1:53:42 AM)

Those 'little things' tend to occur ALL the time for me!

I believe so too. I think it means observers actually see the ship go, instead of still floating in a a very damaged state (that would be a heavy fires, heavy damage for you)

dr.hal -> RE: Another Musashi Magazine (4/13/2020 12:45:59 PM)

I know how to make the ship impervious.... don't build it.

It was probably the Yamato anyway. The intel reports are always talking about the wrong ships.

"Previous reports of sinking of Musashi incorrect. Ship sighted at Takao."

Then 6 months later: "Loss of Yamato admitted".

Orm -> RE: Another Musashi Magazine (4/13/2020 2:01:46 PM)

How likely, or unlikely, would you say that two Mk 13 torpedo hits are to make the magazine explode on the BB Musashi? Not in the game, but in a hypothetical, what if, historical event?

RangerJoe -> RE: Another Musashi Magazine (4/13/2020 2:06:41 PM)

If someone was smoking where he shouldn't be and dropped the cigarette . . .

Orm -> RE: Another Musashi Magazine (4/13/2020 2:11:10 PM)

True, but smoking in the magazine, and in when at battle stations, and is severe storms. Such a man wouldn't, in my humble opinion, have access to the magazine. Such a person would have been weeded out long before the ship left port. Right?

Orm -> RE: Another Musashi Magazine (4/13/2020 2:12:36 PM)

Besides, it don't think they have powder on the floor in the magazine so can really a cigarette explode it?

RangerJoe -> RE: Another Musashi Magazine (4/13/2020 3:14:45 PM)

What usually goes up first is not the cordite which is the main propellant but the black powder which is very unstable around heat and pressure. The black powder sets off the cordite charge in the breech of the gun.

Think of when they used nitrocellulose. They used it as the main propellant in big guns as well as billiard/pool balls. Sometimes the billiard/pool balls would explode when they hit each other. Not a very good idea in the old West of the USA with drunk cowboys with pistols.

IME it means that the ship was observed to sink by your pilots/naval ships so it is always true. Pretty hard to miss a magazine explosion too!

Elessar2 -> RE: Another Musashi Magazine (4/13/2020 4:28:19 PM)

The Yamatos had well-studied flaws in joints of the armor belt, which apparently would become disconnected from the main hull upon torpedo impact.
