So the Galactic Republic thousands of years from now is still using NATO symbols! Cool!

I love this comment.

Vic's fault. He should have thought of this and invented an entirely new Galactic Republic military symbol library we could have learned.

Got it, not a joke.

Nope. Dead serious. Oh, and FYI: violence is the first resort of those who are really good at it. I should know.

Edgy.

It's a sci-fi 4X game. If the counters are really that important to you then maybe a sci-fi 4X game isn't your thing...

If that's the case it's a great troll.

Bursting a blood vessel over NATO symbol accuracies, for a game set some 1,000 years in the future?

Perhaps the least productive use of one's time!

Without turning this in to a witch hunt - I suggest the OP needs some time away from their computer.

I agree and I think he has. It's the biggest over reaction I've seen in a long time on these forums.

If the OP was about the lack of Oxford commas in the manual, well, then THAT might be a valid reason. Wait till the rules lawyers get into it! LOL

BTW, got the game and fired it up, despite the missing Oxford commas. All good. SE is similar in some ways to Armageddon Empires but with a more traditional wargame feel. Very cool.

I considered that before posting earlier, but I decided the thread was too much fun not to get involved. I think several others posting had the same thought.

Guilty as charged! It was just too tempting not to add a little humor and watch the ball bounce around.

I made an improved NATO counter for Arachnids, Vic is free to use!

You're welcome, everyone!

I guess not everyone can look past the presentation issues and 1990’s graphics, all the typos, grammar etc.

No, some can't. The rest of us, however, are embracing the standard but evolved Vic game presentation and "1990's graphics," which anyone who looked at Vic's previous games or the development blogs or the youtube videos or anywhere else that had pictures of the game up before it went live would have been fully aware of before buying, and are making note of typos and grammar problems in the initial release of the game to improve a great game. Or one could argue why standard 2020 English grammar and spelling should be expected to exist in a game set in the distant future. Maybe Vic has it right.

Okay. I've worked intel at BDE level...so have a view on this.

TECHNICALLY....it's a bit of a mistake to have the Armored symbol for what is clearly a motorized (not armored) unit. However given the mixed nature of the unit it's always going to be an approximation at best. In fact NATO symbols are not intended to represent every facet of a unit. Artillery units will have all sorts of other capabilities (even organic mortar and TRUCKS!) but will still be represented frequently with the dot.

Things are a bit flexible...

I would put this in the bug category, Vic as a developer has fantastic attention to detail and the Blitzkrieg series shows an unprecedented level of accuracy.

To the OP...if this kind of thing grinds your gears in a V1.0 release then maybe wait until a little way down the line. It seems very petty to miss out on a great title due to something like this.

I, for one, will not be buying the game if jimwinsor's arachnid symbol is used. It has six legs.
