I understand the concept of Administrative Strain Penalty, and I see that my assets are suffering such a penalty at 10%.

But is there anyplace in the interface that itemizes that, so that I know this distant asset is costing X and that one is costing Y? Or is there a definite formula for knowing this, and thus planning what to do about it?

(Also, I am assuming that the special hexes (hex perks) do not contribute. Hopefully this is correct?)

Administrative penalty for each asset = (((Distance from City - 6)/6) * asset level * production%)/(All other assets * asset level * production%)

-private assets count for 1/2
-mothballed and closed assets don't count
-Admin strain increases/decreases gradually, over time

Ok, that's a bit of a mess to sort out, but there's some basic ideas to hold in mind:

1) Distance matters. Two Assets 10-hexes away are as bad as One Asset 20-hexes away.
2) Asset level matters. One level-2 asset equals Two level-1 assets.
3) Larger cities with lots of assets can tolerate distant assets better than small towns.
4) If Admin Strain gets bad, you can lower the production%, or mothball/close the asset to help alleviate the problem.

Also note that admin strain takes effect in a step-fashion. 0-9% = 0%, 10-19% = 10%, 20-29% = 20%, etc

As a feature request, I would like to see a map layer that gives a heat map of each cities admin strain. This would aid in using the the border tool and deciding where to create new zones.

Very interesting!!!

So that formula indicates that one way to lower administrative strain is to add assets or asset level close to the city. Never, ever would have guessed that.

As much as I would like a map overlay or a page accounting for this, I can see the complexity of such an undertaking. But it does make it difficult to fine tune your strategy. (But maybe that is realistic.)
