We had Father Emmanoulides give a prayer that the sun not come up today but it doesn't work. It's a long way from Greece.

Even so it is getting to be late morning and nothing has happened.

Ah...here they come..tremendous number of Zekes here. Either they flew in fresh Zekes to replace yesterday's losses or this is LRCAP from Boela (which was vacant at sundown yesterday). They go after Arizona which must be a hulk at this point. CAP from Dobo and Taberfane

That's it for the morning. Could it be that this will work? Nah.

Afternoon attack. Terrible coordination. I wonder if some of the Zekes are on sweep/commander's choice? It's the great Sunda Turkey Shoot.

West Va is still 40+ miles out with three seawater ventilation channels. Harder for the CAP to get to her. According to the combat replay she does not sink.

Damage so far:

IJN: Kirishima likely sunk, 2 CA's damaged, numerous DD's. At least 150 carrier A/C shot down

USN: Colorado sunk by sub torps. West Va and Arizona crippled or sinking. One DD, two older CL's sunk. Even if they can port at Dobo the two BB's will be highly vulnerable.

It was 98 here yesterday so I went down to San Clemente State Beach which is, improbably, still open. It was a glorious 82. Water was warm. Everyone happy and pretty much behaving themselves.

I haven't touched the Pacific for 6 months.

They have taken all the diagonal parking places on the main restaurant and shop street and pushed out the restaurant seating into the street. It's a total hit, especially when the weather is good. Almost no cars...just electric bikes with surf racks and golf carts.

There was a booth to get signatures to recall Gov Newsome for closing the beaches. Surfers HATE the Governor.

The temptation to put a few more bombs or torps into these BBs will be strong for JJ. I assume that you'll stack layers of CAP and LRCAP onto the port to make him pay for the opportunity? Whatdaya got for LB AAA for that port?

All that sounds like a good idea.

Good question
6 x 3 in
6 x 37 mm
14 x Bofors 40

assorted smaller caliber

I am pretty sure you can also fit a Bofors 40 and the 37 mm on a C-47 and fly them in

My co-workers have a strange sense of humor. One of them, whom I will call Bill caught the virus. One of my other co-workers sent Bill photo's of cheap caskets and asked which one he preferred. Bill has since recovered and returned to work.

What a battleship catastrophe you have suffered at the hands of I-boats.

Curious -- what was the ship crew experience on those slugs -- I mean poor stricken battleships?

Well, in fairness to the crews, they had been converted into 10 kt target barges with a couple of tons of main gun powder aboard and some were abandoned by their escorts. Arizona is 61/56 or something like that. She is forty 40 miles from Dobo. I doubt she will make it. We did manage to sink one sub.

84 carrier Zekes and 31 carrier bombers destroyed. That is almost worth a 30 year old BB.

One of the staff thought it was a good idea to send in some Navy and USAAF heavies to attack Boela as there were no fighters on recon.....we lost 11 PB4Y's and 3 B-24's

It will always move 1 hex per turn. Some emergency de-watering and then some escorts in an escort TF. Otherwise, LRCAP/CAP trap.

She is at 96% flooding and there are 4 subs spotted in the same hex. It will be a miracle

Night Search and ASW might help. Collect all of the blimps and help keep her afloat.

It is just the way the group is. Which is why I really really need to retire. I am too terrified to look at my 401K though.

When the BB gets over a drydock it can use its AA to pop the blimps ...

West Va and Arizona made Dobo. So did the damaged DD's. Washington and escorts made Merauke. JJ got tired of sacrificing planes so they attacked Darwin and lost some planes...more to come.

SG had to show me pictures of necrotizing fasciitis while I am trying to make my breakfast. Santa Maria!

I put away the peppered salami and cheese and tomatoes with balsamic vinegar glaze and got out some cucumber.

Important safety tip: You do NOT want to get that.

I might have shared this observation before but I'm not sure where I shared it so...consider this:

How is it that there are an equal number of low pulp and high pulp orange juice buyers? You expect me to believe Darwinian forces accomplished that? I don't THINK so. It isn't market forces either because the prices are EXACTLY the same. Something has caused consumers to ask for extra sawdust in their OJ.

Also consider this:

The Chaldean Aramaic (original Biblical language) word for "light" is "noohra", which can mean "light from the sun" but also "light in weight". Suppose King James got it wrong. Not just a little bit wrong but grievously wrong from the start. I'm talking Genesis I.

quote:

And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

It's beautiful. It's spiritual. It has symbolic meaning..apparently. Everyone knows it. But what if it was all a misunderstanding? What if the King's monks and scribes just didn't get the cultural subtleties of Chaldean Aramaic? What if God really said "Let there be low pulp and high pulp juice of the orange." Look, the monks have been reading ancient languages by the light of a candle in a burlap robe that itched like heck and may have been quite distracting. They had never been to Spain let alone the Middle East. They have never tasted OJ and likely never saw the Chaldean word for it. So, naturally, they have to ad lib a bit and they take "noohra" to mean visible light which is symbolic for wisdom and the perfection and purity and purpose of God. They must have run around in ecstasy at the beauty of what they just transcribed....and there you have it. Now the grocery store has an equal display of low pulp and high pulp and they are EXACTLY the same price! Ever hear anyone say "I used to like low pulp but I switched over to high pulp"? Never happens. I promise.

Look up the word for "chocolate marshmallow with biscuit base" in German and think of what that sounds like. That is an English biscuit which Americans call a cookie.

I had an open wound 5.5 cm by 4.5 cm on the top of my right foot. They removed the dead tissue and it went down to the muscles and ligaments but not into the bones. I have a couple of pictures somewhere when it was healing. Would you like me to post them for you?
