This probably isn't possible but it would be great to have an extra order for air units relating to supply interdiction. It's very frustrating to have your air units use their operation points attempting to interdict port supply when you want them to fly in support of ground combat. Depending on the local geography, they will even attempt to interdict supply at an irrelevant port and not a port of consequence. I currently have a bomber looking for fleets to intercept and it just attempted to interdict supply at an enemy port that isn't even supporting any enemy units.

As the Axis, I understand that Italian air power is practically worthless but in my current game I have had upgraded Italian bombers that I want to fly defensively in support of ground attacks attempt to interdict the ports of Marseille and Toulon EVERY SINGLE TURN for 6 months and not sink even 1 supply unit. All this at the cost of dozens of lost air strength points. This is incredibly unrealistic (even for Italians) but with results like this, I should be able to direct what they do on defense.

One other point. If this can't be changed then I propose that interceptors and escort fighters be forbidden from flying interdiction missions. On the last turn, I had all bombers set to "mission" and expected my fighters to fly counter-air missions on defense. But what happens? See the chart. I lose 9 fighters on a ridiculous mission - fighters trying to interdict port supply. When bombers can go 6 months and never sink a single supply transport, why would I want my fighters to attempt it? And how does #15 fighter intercept 7 times?

I had noticed this air supply missions where I was doing no damage worth anything to me and I didn't want to. It is irritating, I am not sure of an easy answer ...

Sometimes I want to interdict naval movements but I don't want to attack port supply, but you cannot control that.

This should not be a problem to fix. The non-phasing player should of course have the possibility to decide if the bombers are to only attack naval, supplies or ground (or a combination of two but not all three).

Supply raiding comes before opt reset.

So to raid supply your air units need an operation point when you hit end turn.
Then it resets
then it is used for ground support in enemy turn.

Which means if you leave an opt on an air unit at end of turn it will supply interdict THEN reset for the opponent's turn.

I get the order in which it is done but I don't want to interdict. My air units were getting so chewed up on the pointless supply interdictions that they didn't have the effectiveness to then fly combat support. I'd like to be able to direct what type of missions they fly. Also, do you have any thoughts on flying supply interdictions for 6 (now 7) months without a hit? That is too many turns to be bad luck. And lastly, should fighters be able to fly naval interdiction missions?

I am Magic's opponent in this game. I agree with him that it would be nice if there was some way to control what sort of missions your air units will fly in your opponents turn.

Yeah, that would be nice. See how your units in naval interdiction are lured to meaningless land combats hurts sometimes.

I will rethink this but in the past it created more micromanagement and frustration on players when they forgot to set something important.

Thanks for considering it. Agree that it's more work but I would guess most players would like the control. It's a big difference between wasting your air power on pointless interdiction missions and defending a key hex against attack. Especially fighters trying to interdict supplies. That's worthless and no General would order it.

The dialog box for Air already has the specific selections for the Mission state. Just need to add an "All" option as a default but make the specific ones from Mission also selectable when in Support role.

Of course better yet would be to make the four choices not an "or" but an "and".
The only real function they serve now is to limit the number of targets highlighted and allow you to pick what you want to attack in a hex with more than one unit type.

What if Port Supply Attack is limited only to the Naval attack mode? That way if air units are set to the other 3 modes they wouldn't do the port supply attacks if they have unused operations points.

That is the route I would considering.

@AlvaroSousa,
Seemed the most logical and easiest to use an existing function. Probably Naval Attack mode with Full Support on? Sure would solve the ground support option complained about earlier.

I might make it for naval interception also.

You probably want the stuka naval attacking rather than the Ju-88

Or even the a/c with the 'naval bombing' speciality.............
