Status: offline 		That "reserve" idea is interesting. So, if I set the low supply units at Clark to "reserve" during the retreat they will move faster?

Status: offline 		Yes. They will move at the "Move" rate I do believe but only if they do not engage in combat. Personally, at this stage of the game, I would not abandon Clark. Do anything that you can to get supplies to Bataan. Remember, CVEs full of fighters on CAP are not affected by being in a base.

Status: offline 		As for AAA, I did manage to get one dedicated AAA unit from Midway to Luzon some time ago but they are at Clark and half-disabled.

I don't think anything big is likely to get through. They have recon and subs blocking the Bonins-Marianaras gap, plus Vals at Pagan. I tried getting some LCT's up between the Moluccas and Beazalbob.....no way..shut down by naval bombers.

Status: offline 		Bataan is at 9500 to 10500 supply but then it has to trickle overland by trail to Clark. Bataan is mostly getting supplied by subs. I have no less that FIFTY subs involved plus more that are transitioning back to New Guinea for fuel. Say, on average 50 tons per sub load...so that's 2500 tons...but they have to back and forth to Palawan, load, unload, etc. I think that is about a 5 day round trip...so perhaps 500 tons a day. It's not enough with all the air raids and ground assaults at Clark. I have a few LCT's and LCM's at Taytay and one LST loading up in Mindanao but it is looking bad until we take Guam.

Status: offline 		Using CVE's as a floating AF in Bataan Harbor is interesting but they would have to GET there first. If we win the carrier battle around Guam then we can shower Bataan with luxuries and cold beer.

Status: offline 		What about a massive airlift with 4E bombers carrying supplies? Even just one turn?

Are you making plans to punch a way for your relief TFs to go to Luzon? Clark is a nice place for Strategic bombing of the Home Islands.

The airlift thing with B-24's is a good idea. I could stage maybe 70 B-24's at Cagayan and send them to Clark in a mass resupply raid.

I wonder how much supply a B-24 can carry at 13 hexes? If I could open the AF at Clark again then the emergency would be not over but delayed. Clark AF is now undamaged again.

Status: offline 		Check the load. Any fraction of 2,000 is still a unit of supplies if I remember correctly. I would have to look at the manual.

There you have it! The entrails have been spread and die has been cast! The oracle of the Matrix has spoken.

1) Indeed, the trick to a night TF amphibious unload is to be very close the unload point at the start of the night phase to preserve op points. This makes sense because that is what "op points" are simulating..time to do some task.

2) B-24D/D1 ..8000 lbs payload so that is 4 supply point per aircraft. If you assume a full payload (which may not be true at Davao which is still level 6)...70 bombers can deliver 280 supply points in one day (assuming no losses)

I don't think that can work. It will be like Goering at Stalingrad..with General Paulus and his men down to 800 calories a day.

Plus, you can't expect 72 AF service pts at Davao to keep 70 B-24's running.

Status: offline 		If a unit gets even one supply point, it should fight fairly well. The objective is to keep the Japanese away from Bataan for as long as is possible and the overall objective is to tie up as many units as is possible. The more you do that and for the longest period of time, the easier, relatively speaking, it is to march towards Luzon. The closer you get, the more supplies you can send to Luzon. But attack different places so you don't have too narrow of an attack corridor.

One air support squad per aircraft.

Plus, if the B-24s can fly that far with a decent load and if you have the pattern and timing for the attacks, the B-24s can also drop bombs on the enemy the turn that the Japanese attack.

Vietnam: JJ sent 6 divisions from China and crushed the Chinese east of Hanoi and then marched on Vinh and kicked out the Commonwealth force so we fell back to the Mekong in Laos

Burma: Big buildup at Mergui. Starting to cross the Kra Peninsula

Sumatra: JJ sent three divisions to Sumatra and pushed back the Aussies at Padang. Lots of casualties but the bulk evacuate offshore to the islands. New landing at Sabang pending.

New Guinea: Allies won the battle of Biak after losing two CL's but destroying many Japanese bombers and a Raiding Regt. Moving on Manokwari soon.

Pacific: Building up for the big attack to relieve Luzon

Luzon: Situation critical at Clark. Even some of the infatry out of supply

Status: offline 		Hard to repair if they keep bombing the damn thing every day. Even so, the AK unloading is not hit. This is very good. And the damage to the AF is not that great.

While that may help stem the hemorrhage of supplies from Clark, are there any JJ airfields within range that could benefit from a visit of 80 B-24D/D1s? It may help take some of the pressure off of Bataan CAP.
