This task force has been at sea since the Dec 8th, I shipped them out to Manila and promptly forgot about them. It was deemed a volunteer mission. Now their Captain has piloted them to just north of Merauke...they won't make Luzon this way with Ambon firmly in IJ hands.

So, divert to Darwin or back to eastern Oz?

Skytrains are wonderful planes...I wish they were at Ledo though.

I have been training NavB with squadrons in the US since Dec 8th, they are only at 30 skill, but that is better than the 5-15 skill these Banshee pilots come in with.

Intrigued that he doesn't think he will get auto victory and its still 1941!

Not a lot of fighter replacements for the USN around until you get the Wildcats and Japanese Subs are so dangerous 41-42

But if he's reacting to your moves already (even if only mentally) , then thats huge

He says he has yet to pick his final objectives and will give it a valiant try.

Yorktown arrives in four days.

Very, very, very hard to do unless you lose loads of troops and ships

Territory is just terrority, he can't hold it all in strength so........

All five major oil sources, Palembang, Medan, Balikpapen, Miri and Brunei are still in Allied hands.

By the time Japan attacks Singers, we will have very strong prep with two HQs one of which is ABDA under strong leadership. 950AV there.

I have always said aiming for a Japanese Auto Victory in 1943 is very difficult and attempting to achieve it leads to most JFB to adopt tactics and strategies which in fact weaken the Empire and make the Allied counter attack much stronger. It is the attempt to increase the VP ratio in 1942 from 3+:1 up to 4:1 on 1 Jan 1943 which weakens the Empire.

The correct Empire play is to solidly weaken the Allies throughout both 1942 and 1943 with the aim of achieving an auto victory in 1944. Achieving a 3:1 VP ratio in 1943 is quite feasible for Japan. All it requires for the 1944 Auto Victory is to maintain that ratio into 1944.

Lowpe: The guy who invaded the Marianas before Christmas... 1941. Thanks for the entertainment and good luck.

Cheers,
CB

Thanks C-C! Not always successful, but entertaining!

Interesting to note that Japan now thinks they will fail in their bid for autovictory (from email to me)? He was really taken by off guard by the move into the Marianas...

I am vaguely aware of a bunch of British ships that need to be saved for later...I assume there are others, but these are the most important?

Yes.

The British do not get that much in the way of proper amphibious ships in their future ship arrivals. Plus their arrival is not that timely. You need to augment their amphibious capabilities by converting these ships.

Not sure if you meant to say Luganville instead of Rabaul, or whether that means some of those support ships will go on to Rabaul?

Most of them will head north to help support our Rabaul defense...

After two destroyer skirmishes at Saipan for no event, during the morning the IJN ad hoc forces find Lexington and Enterprise...a long fight follows, mostly at long range. The American carriers have been husbanding their planes for just such a move...will the turn into the wind?
