Does anyone can share the tactics to invade and destroy Greece in one turn?

It happened to me already in few PBEM but I still fail to reproduce it.

Thanks

IMHO, at the moment it would be very expensive to do for what it contributes, better to attack from Yugoslavia.

In a 39 Europe campaign game I started against the AI as the Axis, I spent all 5 German diplomacy influence actions on Yugoslavia and got lucky with all of them hitting to drive it up to 98% Axis. I looked in the manual and in the reports/scenario notes and it does not appear that any particular events and/or actions (other than influencing via the War Panel) cause Yugoslavia to politically shift/lean either way.

I'm assuming Yugoslavia will never join the Axis unless they hit 100% and that this would require more Axis influence points being spent, right (for those who know)?

In any case, my plan is to take out Greece with Italy and Yugoslavia once Italy joins, and with minimal German forces as required.

Will see how this goes, but I'm hoping it will work.

I doubt this would work against a human opponent as I'm sure they would counter influence Yugoslavia more than perhaps the AI will...

Taking Greece in one turn is tough and not always possible.

My attack was...

German large corp amphibious invasion.
German Paratrooper dropped in.

Bomb with both italian bombers and all but 1 german level bombers...if you can get your ground support in then GREAT...but don't think they can reach.

Move the Italian navy adjacent to the captial.

Attack with the large corp and the paratrooper...and naval fleet along with 1 bomber providing support. HOPEFULLY they retreat. If not you an make a second attack.
If you can't move in you would need to have another unit on invasion standby or another paratrooper to drop in.

Again don't think it is 100% successful but pretty high overall.

Thanks for the input but I still struggle a little. What is the best location to place the paratrooper?
On the Yugoslavia-Greece border?

I usually take it in 1 turn as follows:

1German paratrooper at 168.31
Another German Paratrooper at 171.31
Invasion from 175.23 to Kalamata from German HQ to support attack on Athens.
German mountain corps invasion in 178.27, with the support of the entire Italian fleet.
Support 3-4 bombings.
German division in reserve in case the first attack fails.

You have 2 attacks with high chances, which rarely misses.

Why take Greece at all? That's just giving the UK free merchants. As things presently stand it is really not to the Axis benefit to take either Greece or Norway. You are better off starving the UK of merchants. That's a 100 merchants swing in the UK's favor between these two countries. I'd pass on them every time.

Not 100, just 45... But yes, you are right. I usually avoid them.

After the update...Norway is more advantageous to take but Greece is iffy.
IF there was any way to take Norway in the first 2 turns...then you can remove 20 MS...but I have not been able to get that to work.
A Div is just not enough.

For Greece...it is a VP and PP deal. The UK gets 170 PP worth of MS...and time...time is the big key.

IF you are winning in the BOA might be best to leave it...IF you are losing or do not participate...then it is more VP and PP overall.

From Greece you get...
1PP multiplied by the Axis economy multiplier.
1% added to the multiplier

2PP from Bulgaria.

The Unit they provide is a wash since you need it for garrison.

IF you hold it for 2 years...You approximately gain.

104 PP from Bulgaria.
+1% which works out to about 104 PP
From captured in Greece, 52 PP

So 260 PP in two years.

NOW odds are you will hold it longer...so 3 years it is more like 390 PP..

You win the long game...

BUT it is all dependent upon the BOA in my eyes.

I thought I'd try this in a game and share my success.

The Italians solo effort captured Athens in my latest game on Turn 24 (1940/07/19) on same turn France surrendered (Vichy).

My aim was to fully disguise the preparation and invade the moment the Italians could attack while the UK wouldn't have a full fleet or carriers in the eastern med to mess up the invasion plans or sink Italian ships in retaliation.

Took 2x Paras from Albania, two Air transports, 2x TAC (one is in Rhodes), Mountaineer, Marine, HQ (Messe), 50 landing ships and ~20 trucks.
Of course Naval Bombardment turned 2-1 odds into 4-1.

Sadly to be able to afford to do this so early I scrapped both the Italian armor on turn 1 so this is somewhat costly if it doesn't work out. I would have needed to air supply two units and attack the following turn if both attacks failed.

I've been horribly unlucky in the BOA so gifting another 17 MM and a DD to the UK is worth the effort for strategic advantage early in this region while Sealion is still a possibility and the UK navy is spread out.

I cheer for the little countries, so it is very fun to see a solo Italy.
