IJN Escort W-19 only got three hits on USS Grampus, but one of them was a direct hit.
Two days later, on 4 Jun 43, Grampus appeared on the sunk ships list.
If true, that feels like the first time the Allies have lost two subs from one day of action.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR Jun 03, 43
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Night Air attack on Tulagi , at 114,137
Weather in hex: Thunderstorms
G4M1 Betty x 9
G4M1 Betty: 1 damaged
Allied aircraft
P-70 Havoc x 6
Aircraft Attacking:
9 x G4M1 Betty bombing from 20000 feet
Port Attack: 1 x 800 kg AP Bomb – SS and an AS were spotted in Tulagi harbour so it was worth a shot.
CAP engaged:
15th FG/6th NFS with P-70 Havoc (0 airborne, 0 on standby, 0 scrambling)
Group patrol altitude is 15000 , scrambling fighters between 0 and 15000.
Some CAP have air radar

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ASW attack near Taihoku at 88,62
E W-19
SS Steelhead is sighted by escort
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Morning Air attack on 503rd Parachute Regiment, at 56,35 , near Rangpur
22 x Ki-44-IIc Tojo sweeping at 20000 feet – recon by sweep is successful. The 503rd Paras has two other units with it, for a total of 9100 troops and 39 guns. IJA 12th Army is only a few days away from shock attacking this hex after an assault river crossing. No Allied movement is spotted to reinforce the 503rd Paras so IGHQ are hoping it stays that way.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Morning Air attack on III Indian Corps, at 56,36 , near Dacca
26 x Ki-44-IIc Tojo sweeping at 20000 feet – more recon by sweep identifies the HQ with no CAP overhead.
24 x Ki-44-IIc Tojo sweeping at 20000 feet
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Afternoon Air attack on XXXIII Indian Corps, at 55,37 , near Dacca – another HQ identified and this time it has some area CAP overhead, most likely flying from Calcutta. This hex is the future 2nd Area Army assault river crossing target, but once the 12th Army attack goes in some of this Allied stack might try to move NE to reinforce it.
Weather in hex: Light cloud
Raid detected at 80 NM, estimated altitude 22,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 22 minutes – I’d never thought of using radar outside of base hexes before this game, but it looks like the Allies did so here, and they’ve done it before. It’s a shame that the IJAAF didn’t have more radar sets or I’d get them to do it too. I’ll remember this for next time I play as the Allies though.
Ki-44-IIc Tojo x 14
Ki-44-IIc Tojo: 1 destroyed
Allied aircraft – Dutch, Brit and Kiwi fighters in relatively small numbers. IJAAF Dinahs have spotted 219 allied fighters total between Calcutta, Jessore and Asansol though, so they may just be on low % CAP.
Sea Hurricane Ib x 4
Hurricane IIc Trop x 1
Hurricane IIb Trop x 2
Kittyhawk III x 4
Hurricane IIc Trop: 1 destroyed
CAP engaged:
2-VI.G.V with Hurricane IIb Trop (2 airborne, 0 on standby, 0 scrambling)

Aircraft N1K2-J George advances R&D – to 7/43 +16/day. Already at 16% because it was 100% yesterday. In five more days it will be 96%, then I will change all but two factories to George-5. Then when it is 100% I will change one more factory to George-5. There are 2x30 plus 2x60 production factories on George-1, so all George research factories will stay as research, and those production factories will start building George-2.
Ace pilot Hashimoto E. of 59th Sentai is promoted to 2LT

Akagi-1 on CV Zuikaku converting to size 72 from 45 – using CV Zuikaku (air capacity of 72), by trial and error I noticed that the Akagi air units can all resize to up to size 127 aircraft. As pilots can be assigned at 133% of the number of aircraft, that would allow 169 pilots to be posted to each unit. I won’t make them that big, but Akagi-1 can be split into thirds. I will resize all Akagi air units to 81 then split them into 3x 27-plane Hikotais so they don’t overload any IJNAF Bases. The 3x Akagi-1 Hikotai will then be filled out with decent pilots and posted to the CVEs to replace the 6th Ku S-1 dets that are on them now. The 6th Ku S-1 dets will then be available for shore duty and will upgrade to George.
Two of the 6th Ku S-1 dets withdraw on 4 Mar 1944 while the third is now permanent as it was bought back after its CVE was sunk. It would be gamey, but a way to keep the other two dets would be to fill them with Claudes, strip out all the good pilots, load them on an xAKL each and send them on a “scouting mission” towards Hawaii. That would cost the victory points for having them destroyed, then political points to buy them back. I won’t do it, but if they do end up getting themselves sunk on a CV before 4 Mar 1944 they will be bought back. Another way could be for them to be destroyed on land, by the next allied invasion. I might post them to Munda and Vella Lavella, switch off replacements and let them be wittled down by Corsairs and ops losses.

51st/A Division - some devices have been upgraded at Tezpur – Infantry Squad 43. There are two devices called “IJA Infantry Squad”, but one stops being available 1/43. Not all IJA Divs upgrade to that Infantry Squad device, but those that have that version of “IJA Infantry Squad” need to upgrade to “Infantry Squad 43” or they will start to run out of Infantry squads.
Just checked the database:
IJA Infantry Squad (#707) has load cost 17 (13 man rifle squad?) and anti-soft rating of 20. It has no end date or upgrade.
IJA Infantry Squad (#709) has load cost 19 (15 man rifle squad?) and anti-soft rating of 22. It has the 1/43 end date and upgrades to device #710. Device #710 has identical stats to device #707.
The anti-tank rating of 5 for all IJA Infantry is a concern in Bengal at the moment… The IJA Tank Corps will need to step up and deal with the Allied Tanks.

6th and 8th Divs are moving to reinforce the 12th Army stack, then they will move West to cut another railway line and make the rail journey from Calcutta to Rangpur a multiple day one, via Benares. 9th Div is moving NE to defend the line of communication. LRCAP is set over 12th Army from Tezpur, as the Allies are expected to send bombers, lots of bombers.

15th Army is in the CEA and Korea Army stack which has 6x combat ready Divs plus 5x Tank Regts preparing to attack, with 1x damaged Div in Reserve (no pursuit) mode.

1st (Tank), 11th, 13th and 25th Armies are at Dacca in the 2nd Area Army stack. They are only a few days from their assault river crossing. The aim is for the III Indian Corps to withdraw towards Calcutta, to stop it from being able to reinforce the defenders at Rangpur / Darjeeling.

36th Div is moving to reinforce 34th Div who are digging into Jungle Rough terrain to block the escape of the 3rd Special Force stack, which includes the 5th Chinese Corps.
Once the Allies move into 36th Div's hex, something from the IJA 20th Army stack will move to close the gate and create a POW camp hex. That will also free up 51st Div and some other units from the 20th Army hex to move to Tezpur and their next missions.

Japanese aircraft – not as many fighters on LRCAP as I was expecting, as someone set the radius to 1… That was a mistake as if the LRCAP was set to range 0 there would have been many more aircraft defending. No IJAAF pilots were KIA or MIA out of these battles, but there were 5x WIA so not a bad result. A larger LRCAP is set for tomorrow as they Allies might try this again.

Ground combat at 60,35 (near Tezpur)
Japanese Bombardment attack
Attacking force 13798 troops, 165 guns, 42 vehicles, Assault Value = 1083, minus 1 since yesterday
Defending force 30196 troops, 350 guns, 180 vehicles, Assault Value = 1169, minus 4 since yesterday. By the time they reach the 34th Div hex they should be fatigued and low on supply, unless they are receiving air drops. 34th Div should get a big defensive bonus because of terrain and field forts. If the Allies attack 34th Div and fail on the first attempt then they should be done for. I don’t expect the Allies to get 2:1 on that first attack, but 36th Div are moving to reinforce just in case the Allies get some lucky die rolls.
Assaulting units:
20th Army +
Defending units:
77th Chindit Brigade
111th Chindit Brigade
20th Indian Division

Defending force 25280 troops, 534 guns, 845 vehicles, Assault Value = 940
Japanese ground losses:
577 casualties reported – no field forts and the Allies might have bigger guns thanks to the US Field Arty Bn. The IJA stack is in reasonable supply so a Deliberate attack is ordered for tomorrow.
Squads: 2 destroyed, 32 disabled
Non Combat: 0 destroyed, 7 disabled
Engineers: 1 destroyed, 7 disabled

Nick-A got a critical hit on a Liberator but still didn't shoot it down.
No reports of Liberator ops losses either.

It happens, I've seen it a number of times.

If you are going to intentionally lose those air units, shrink them to size "1" then lose them. They will be cheap to buy back and you can resize them later.

Decided I won’t do it. There are oodles of IJN fighter units due to arrive soon anyway, even though most of them withdraw again.

Defending force 28943 troops, 552 guns, 743 vehicles, Assault Value = 816
Japanese adjusted assault: 1974
Allied adjusted defense: 933
Japanese assault odds: 2 to 1
Combat modifiers
Defender: op mode(-), leaders(+), experience(-), supply(-). Something got caught in Move mode. The supply(-) is still a surprise seeing how close this stack is to Calcutta.
Attacker: shock(+), disruption(-)
Japanese ground losses:
3987 casualties reported
Squads: 18 destroyed, 359 disabled – 18th Div took the most disablements, now 70/98 TOE with 210 assault strength.
18th Div will stay in this hex in Combat mode to recover with a few supporting Arty units while the rest continue the advance to the “NE” along the Ganges River. Two units supporting 18th Div will feint moves to the NW and W to threaten the rear of III Indian Corps to see if it chooses to try and withdraw.
Non Combat: 3 destroyed, 27 disabled
Engineers: 3 destroyed, 62 disabled
Vehicles lost 40 (9 destroyed, 31 disabled) – very few IJA tank losses
Allied ground losses:
6506 casualties reported
Squads: 431 destroyed, 74 disabled
Non Combat: 410 destroyed, 353 disabled
Engineers: 78 destroyed, 40 disabled

Assaulting units:
18th Division – the first unit on this list seems to take the most damage, so it looks like 20th Div will be the next Div to lead a big attack.

18th British Division – went from 277 AV to zero
3rd Cavalry Regiment – went from 55 AV to zero

Ground combat at 59,34 (near Rangpur)
Japanese Deliberate attack
Attacking force 80321 troops, 871 guns, 771 vehicles, Assault Value = 2936 – raw AV ratio for the battle tomorrow should be about 2600:600.
Defending force 25283 troops, 534 guns, 842 vehicles, Assault Value = 928
Japanese adjusted assault: 1547
Allied adjusted defense: 851
Japanese assault odds: 1 to 1

Attacker:
Japanese ground losses:
4474 casualties reported
Squads: 44 destroyed, 177 disabled
Non Combat: 0 destroyed, 60 disabled
Engineers: 5 destroyed, 53 disabled
Guns lost 36 (4 destroyed, 32 disabled)
Vehicles lost 129 (24 destroyed, 105 disabled) – Most of these were to the 23rd Tank Regt or were trucks. 23rd Tank Regt was still oversized with Type 89A Medium Tanks, but it just lost all of its Type 95 Light Tanks and all Type 89A Tanks were disabled in this battle. It will stay in Reserve (no pursuit) for the next attack then withdraw to Tezpur to take its long overdue upgrade to Type 1 Medium Tanks. There is still 198 AV in the four remaining Tank Regts and their Type 1 Medium Tanks seemed to hold up quite well.
Allied ground losses:
3346 casualties reported
Squads: 52 destroyed, 150 disabled
Non Combat: 34 destroyed, 223 disabled
Engineers: 25 destroyed, 19 disabled
Guns lost 198 (97 destroyed, 101 disabled)
Vehicles lost 108 (10 destroyed, 98 disabled)
Assaulting units:
54th Division – top of the list took the most damage here too. TOE is down to 55/94 with (272) 1 in Infantry squads, so it is combat ineffective. It will stay in Reserve (no pursuit) for the next battle then withdraw to Tezpur to recover.
23rd Tank Regiment – as noted above, combat ineffective now and needs to rotate out of the front line to receive new tanks. Only 29x Political Points to buy it out now. That’s a bargain so was done, but where will it move to? 2nd, 7th, 8th or 14th Area Army? It was bought out to Southern Army so GEN Terauchi can decide where to move it to later.
12th Division – 354 AV, so still ready to fight. Disruption and fatigue are the highest of the stack with 44 Disruption 34 Fatigue, but the rest are <20 Disruption and <20 Fatigue. Infantry Divs tomorrow will deliberate attack while the Tank Regts will shock attack.
9th Tank Regiment
14th Division
12th Tank Regiment
53rd Division
13th Division
11th Division
3rd Tank Regiment
15th Division – was in Reserve (no pursuit) for this battle as it only has 242 AV, 74(94) TOE, (167)112 in Infantry squads, but it will join the attack tomorrow. If it takes more losses it will be cheaper again to buy out and will move to somewhere like Soerabaja to refit.

OPERATIONAL REPORT FOR Jun 07, 43
B5N2 Kate from Ryujo-2 attacking SS Gudgeon at 112,109 SS Gudgeon is reported HIT – Truk is surrounded by Allied subs again due to the presence of half of Combined Fleet there. So far they are not swarming around Manus Island and the other half of the Combined Fleet. Now that the Allies have spotted the IJN main force, I will withdraw the CVs and BBs to the Marianas so that they are outside of PB4Y-1P camera range, but leave the CA and CL task forces in forward areas.

Ki-49-IIa Helen from 90th Sentai attacking SS O20 at 55,41 SS O20 is reported HIT
Ki-49-IIa Helen from 90th Sentai attacking SS KXIII at 54,41 SS KXIII is reported HIT
13 x Ki-49-II KAI Helen transporting 63rd JAAF AF Bn to Akita
14 x Ki-57-I Topsy transporting 73rd JAAF AF Bn to Hirosaki/Aomori
7 x H6K4-L Mavis transporting 17th Naval Construction Battalion from Vella Lavella
7 x H6K4-L Mavis transporting 6th Naval Construction Battalion from Vella Lavella
Kumamoto expands airfield to size 7 – Waifu JAAF Base will go to level 8 to get the aviation support double effect.
Keijo expands fortifications to size 4 – Urban Heavy terrain will also get level 6 forts here, although if they are ever needed things will be looking grim! Keijo already has a size 8 airfield in preparation for late war action in this area.
Pegu expands fortifications to size 1 – the IJA 39th Div is currently the Pegu garrison with some engineers and a JAAF AF Bn. The airfield will build to size 4(7) just to help get the supply draw through this hex a little higher, then forts will build to size 6 as it is clear terrain and I’ve seen from other AARs that an Allied amphibious landing could hit this hex.
Akagi-1 on CV Zuikaku converting to size 81 from 72
Zuiho-1 converting to A6M5c Zero – that is all CV and CVL now with the A6M5c. The 3x 6th Ku S-1 dets still have A6M5 so will upgrade next, and the Chitose/Chiyoda fighter units are still training on A6M2 back at Tokyo. They won’t get A6M5c until their ships complete their change to CVL, which is only 81 days away.
DD Hibiki available for service in damaged state at Adak Island – 4 hexes to Amchitka Island where an AD awaits to try and help speed up the system damage repair. Damage is 49 minor system, 59 major flood, 13 engine with 11 of it major. Mk 16 mines mess up DDs! The nearest AR is at Paramushiro-jima but moving the AR forward won’t be risked to try and save a DD.
SS I-9 available for service in damaged state at Kwajalein Island – SS I-9 has 26 major flood damage, so will move back to Truk initially and join the queue for the ARD. It might need to island hop back to Japan for repairs as the ARD is slow and I find it is best kept for subs with <20ish flood damage so they don’t stay in it for more than a few weeks each.

Also George-2's and Frank's not doing too well against the 24's.

It is a shame that the Vengeance won’t be seen much longer!
Do you send your 81+ experience IJA pilots to Trg Comd, or Reserve, or keep them flying Franks?

I found the pause hotkey so can now take more than one screenshot per battle.
Allied numbers were:
1. Start of battle
2. Paused after IJA bombardment phase
3. After 27th Div attack (one of the last Divs to attack) – 85th British AT Regt was destroyed

The IJA numbers are shown at the start then at the 2:1 die roll.
It looks like it was a “near run thing”, but the Brahmaptura river crossing is secure and the near bank of the Ganges River will now be cleared to try and encircle Rangpur-Darjeeling.

Solid red arrows are real IJA moves, dotted white arrows are IJA movement feints to keep the allies guessing.
With the movement feints towards Calcutta, will the III Indian Corps stack withdraw or will it stay to fight and delay the 2nd Area Army advance?

2nd Guards Div will move back to Dacca to join 35th Div to defend it.
If the Allies launch a counter attack from Calcutta things could get interesting, and Dacca will need to be held at all costs.
Supply is starting to build up at Dacca and forts are now building fast, currently level 2 +88% with 223 engineers and 12 engineer vehicles working hard.

The other big attack today. Allied numbers were from:
1. Start of battle
2. End of IJA first bombardment phase
3. End of IJA attack phase

This result was 1.81 to 1, so close but no cigar…
The attack force is in decent shape and the fresh 17th Div will arrive in two day, so there will be a follow up attack tomorrow.

Roughly equal losses in Squads and Vehicles, but the Allies lost a lot more Non Combat squads and Guns.
19th Indian Div lost about 100AV and the Bdes all took some damage, but not enough to get it to a 2:1 result.
More British and Indian losses should make it more difficult for the Allies to get all of these troops back to full strength for future offensive ops.

IJA numbers are at the start of the battle and at the start of the next turn.

This caught my eye during the replay...

SHIP CREWS PERFORM DAMAGE CONTROL
TK San Clemente Maru sinks....

I just checked the skippers as I thought I'd replaced them all with IJN regular officers with about 60 naval skill but <50 aggression.
Some of them still have muppets with naval skills <20, so they will be replaced when this task force gets to Japan.
Maybe the poor skipper was a factor, but maybe it was just one of those random events that happens.

At least it wasn't a Battleship alongside at Kure, like BB Mutsu in real life!

Inspection of Zuiho-1 upon issue of their shiny new A6M5c.

I don’t know who on the IGHQ Personnel Staff posted WO Fukui to a CV Hikotai, but he does not belong there.
As soon as he arrives at Truk he will be sent back to Japan to join a training unit.
CPO Tanaka will remain the senior ranking pilot in Zuiho-1 for now.

I have some in TRACOM, some in my front-line units. I have very experienced units by this stage of the war at the front. At the low end I do place a few 60ish experienced pilot as 'trainees' at the front, as the 'nugs' in the group. They either 'train up', or die off.

TBH, I haven't lost too many, but when a Frank gets knocked off-line, it stays that way a long time. Makes the unit useless for quite some time. Even at bases with considerable excess AV.

I think that it's completely random. Annoying when its something so useful and not any of the semi-worthless stuff.

Good practice to replace the tanker captains regardless. I've had a few with a habit of playing ping-pong with other ships in the convoy. Plus, might even pay off one day if they dodge a torpedo or two.

I've not had many issues with my Frank squadrons so far, but I'm quite diligent in rotating them in and out of the front to keep the paint fresh.

The 1st image was the start of the next round of the 15th Army battle.
The 2nd allied figures are at the end of the bombardment phase, with 50th Tank Bde taking the most hits.
The 3rd allied figures and the IJA figures to the top left are from when the 1:1 result was announced.
A disappointing 1.65 to 1 adjusted AV ratio.

For the IJA, 12th Div took the most losses and the IJA Tank Regts had 2 tanks destroyed 65 disabled between them, although they did zero the 50th Tank Bde.
The 19th Indian Div and 255th Armd Bde held the line well, but the Allies lost another 104 Infantry squads, 70 guns and 162 vehicles here so are being worn down.

The IJA raw AV was adjusted down to nearly 33%, but there were no fatigue or disruption (-)s.
17th IJA Div just arrived in Reserve (no pursuit) mode with 452 fresh AV, so the next attack should smash this hex open.

A brutal day in the air over the 2nd Area Army stack.
Tojos with veteran pilots shot down quite a few bombers, with AA gunners also doing some good work.
Allied 4E bombers are worth 2 victory points each aren’t they?

The VP ratio is creeping up ever so slightly, now up to 3.44 to 1, so it isn’t going backwards towards 3:1 yet!

If I had a staff I would ask them to figure out what the points loss for IJA devices was from all this bombing compared to the points the Allies lost from the aircraft that didn't return to base. Gut feeling is it was about equal, but a quick count shows only 12x IJA devices destroyed plus 164 disabled across all categories.
So the Allies lost 54 points worth of aircraft, took out 13 points of IJA aircraft and ## points for the above ground losses.
The Allies are now forcing the IJA to consume more supply to repair all those disabled squads, so maybe it is worth them doing it in the long run.

A total of 13 IJA pilots were KIA today with 4x WIA. None of the top aces were lost though so they will be back for more tomorrow. 77th Sentai including its two dets lost a total of 3xKIA, 3xWIA which was the sum of IJAAF losses over this hex. The other pilot casualties must have been from the flak and ops losses to non-fighters. From the combat report, there were 7xKIA just from landing accidents.

LRCAP for this hex was provided by the Dacca based Tojos only, but they will get some reinforcement from a Sentai or two flying from Tezpur tomorrow.

There are two more AKE in this task force and 18k of valuable supply that will be moved back towards air cover.

I noticed recently that the Kongo Maru class xAP have a cruise speed of 20 knots, allowing them to cover an impressive 12 hexes a day in cruise mode, but only if they don’t have an escort to slow them down.

I recall a comment from Alfred once that some Allied merchants are fast enough to run the Cape Town to Perth route without escort, so is 20 knots fast enough to let the Kongo Marus travel without Escorts?

Gato/Balao/Tench class subs have a max speed of 20. Salmon/Sargo/Seadragon are fastest with 21.
The subs would have to be lucky to get into a firing position against a ship moving 20 knots past them in a 46 mile hex, but I've only seen that message in combat reports when an Allied sub made contact with a Japanese MGB near Balikpapan.

Operation "move the Oil south from Urumchi" is still a work in progress.
I still haven't quite nailed this but every drop of Oil will count, so it's worth coming back to this side project on a regular basis.

My most recent thoughts on it are that I think I’ve found a few uses for the 3x Std-E Tankers (very small) that Japan can build.

Construction had been halted, but it was switched back on a week ago with a view to using them to move Oil from Hankow to Shanghai under control of China Area Fleet. Using the river they won’t need an escort. The few Tankers that have been used to date to draw Oil to Hankow are needed back on major Oil/Fuel convoy route where their larger capacity can be used to full advantage.

I’ll need to find a couple of T1TS (1250 capacity) to replace the larger tankers currently drawing Oil to Tientsin and moving it by sea to Port Arthur.
There are no Allied subs spotted in the Yellow Sea so they will also run without escorts once they get there, until an Allied sub is spotted.

Running these small TK without escorts will help free up a few more Ansyu PB to escort troop and supply/resources convoys. There are very few spare Ansyu PBs anywhere at the moment.

To get Oil to flow to Hankow and Tientsin, it is being stockpiled at Port Arthur, Shanghai, Hankow, Tientsin and Fushun.
Tankers are then trying to create excess demand to get Oil moving from Sian to Hankow and Tientsin ports, so that Oil then gets dragged down from Urumchi via Lanchow to Sian. The larger tankers proved the concept, but when set to CS mode they don’t fill up, so it is fuel inefficient.
Smaller tankers should do it more efficiently, but to be most efficient these convoys may need to be run manually, with something like 2x Std-C TK on each route so that there is always a ship demanding Oil at both Tientsin and Hankow. Until I get a few more Std-C TKs to trial, the Std-Es will have a go.

Fuel is also being stockpiled at Port Arthur, in an attempt to get the Heavy Industry in China to demand Fuel from Urumchi and get it to move south too.
I haven’t been watching that regularly enough to see whether it is working or not, but there are no Heavy Industry failure messages yet so the HI is getting fuel from somewhere other than Port Arthur. The refinery has been switched back on at Urumchi and Fuel there is still above capacity, but I think some is now moving.

Urumchi stats as at 9 Jun 43 shown here so I have a reference to check back in a few weeks time to see if anything is moving or not.

Great news for LGEN Kayashima, he finally receives a Div Commander appointment.
Not so great news, the 46th Div TOE looks like a hybrid B- or C+ grade one with no Combat Engineers, but Artillery and 17x Light Tanks added, so it isn't the sort of high-prestige Div he was hoping for.
46th Div is currently 69% full, so about one more Infantry Regt worth of troops will fill it out costing about 4k supply and taking TBC months to complete.
MGEN Isa will return to the General Staff Reserve. He might be lucky enough to reappear later as an Independent Mixed Bde commander, but with a Land skill of 61 that is probably unlikely.

By freak coincidence, I just looked up 46th Div and LGEN Kayashima was the original commander when the Div formed, keeping the job from 10 Jun 43 - 15 Oct 43. He did not deploy south when the 46th Div was assigned to 19th Area Army and moved south to Sumba (Soemba Island in game, Waingapoe base) and Sumbawa Island (Bima base).
