Very sad day.

Zhukov dismissed.

I did not need this atm. And such a shining star replacement.

Stalin clearly had a bad night with the bottle with his old buddy.

And for those still paying attention, please note the forecast for snow in Central zone

Did you put Zhukov in Stavka in the first place?

this attack was with well rested russian troops.

They had to wait for the Don to freeze and finally reached the new german lines.

it seems i am still getting air support over Leningrad.

They must have missed the down fly order.

Its not close to the airbases.

And for the queasy:

Major February 42 German counter cut off attack slicing off a huge chunk of my troops furthest West near Stalino.

That's how one does it!

If February is bad, March will surely be worse.

Weather map.

I either forgot to look at forecast, or the forecast was wrong. Anyhow, I lost the aid of Blizzard effects due to snow and the Germans took advantage.

It was unclear to me why this HQ got bounced over here.

He could not have been near that German breakthrough.

Any ideas

View of 23rd Army..

Not a bad won loss record considering many of his troops melted away.

Final south

Note the split division by Tyronec holding the rear of the pockets.

He puts his main strength into the cutting off units

When you have a chunk of your Russian troops cut off in the first week of February 1942, it's best to run away!

IDK the odds of some of your attacks were pretty low before dice were even rolled, so could be predictable soviet defeats.

As well the Soviet bouncing HQs....this has been an issue in other games times past as well....think it was Michael vs Pelton were like all the soviet HQs mysteriously bounced to the rear, and I had a similar situation in my game vs Pelton, but think this is first it has popped up since then which was a long time ago.

South Result counterattack:

The try to open this south pocket will end up with more good units thrown away trying to save bad units.

This game turned on this cutoff and relief attempt.

The better Russian play seeing this situation would be to realized the Germans are too strong and start retreated East immediately!

This is hindsight but should be a trigger result.

If i had started my March retreat 1 month early (first turn of Feb), this game would have been much different. And i had room to give down south.
