Scoreboard- Long way short of AV but he will be under some pressure once the amphib bonus runs out.

Tension will build for the Allies by May 42 and if he is unlucky enough to run a few of his CVs into some subs then the pressure will really start to pile on....Looking forward to that

Lowpe's AAR is running hot and perhaps this is the reason.

What's this off the coast of Japan ?

I have been expecting the CVs to turn up for quite a while as it is becoming the standard Allied text book play now in the early war.

Still it is a major inconvennience and I almost missed it completing the turn. Not sure if he will press on.....

Next turn will be interesting.

Slower progress on the East Coast as the Allies fight back hard.

West Coast Oz is about to recommence offensive operations.

Strat bombing campaign progressing slowly.

Being a nuisance in the South Pacific- grabbed Pago on the cheap.

Thinking possibly Wake or Fiji next.....

US CVs nudge slightly closer to the HIs.

I reckon Lowpe is going to go for it, so I had to spend quite a bit of time (and clicks) dragging a stack of Nate sqns out of Manchuria to bolster air defences.

Depending on what he hits, the Allies could get a very warm welcome or potentially bag a few points.

Aside from repositioning a number of fighter units back from China and Manchuria, no other major naval unit movement will occur.

The Empire will stay the course and ignore the distraction :-)

Update- 5th Feb 42

Fiji and New Caledonia close to being secured- minimum resistance.

Dutch still holding out in their one strong point at Java- the usual one in the mountains.

Offensives in India and Western Oz about to be restarted.

Fighting my usual Asian style (its in my blood).

Flanking his main force and then will attempt to establish a road block to cut off his main forces at Maryborough.

I very rarely will assualt head on- love going for the flank.

Enjoying China

Hard not as the Empire in early 42.

There is 100K of Chinese trapped at Changsha expecting to make a final stand.

What happens if I don't grant their wish and instead head straight to Kwelin?????

Maybe the final nail in the coffin for the Chinese- tempting

Additional thoughts:

No attack on the Home Islands. Allied CVs have disappeared again out somewhere in the Northern Pacific.

Lowpe has not been his usual aggressive self over the last few turns. The question is why?

- Losses becoming unsustainable??? (possibly but doubtful).

- Worried about the next move in Australia, India or elsewhere- likely, he is keeping his powder dry until he sees my next move.

Which leads nicely to the next segment of the conversation.

Where to next with about 1000 Av and KB which I can muster up in the next 2 weeks:

1. Central Pacific- Wake + Midway

2. Western Oz?

3. Eastern Oz?

4. India ?

All are tempting and all have their own advantages/ disadvantages. Happy to hear ideas/ views.

Western Australia - the key is Kalgoorlie. Capture means no flow of supplies and troops from Port Augusta and beyond. Once captured he will only be able to bring reinforcements by sea, sir.

I like your thinking there Mike. I could wedge him between Eastern and Western OZ.

The available AV would flow from the DEI once the Dutch completely collapse which is near enough to WA.

Hopefully he chooses to fight hard for WA which would maximise his casualties if I seal off Perth. Either way I get to strat bomb Kalgoorlie.

The more I ponder this the more I like it.

Well there goes that idea!- Lowpe looks like he is bugging out of Perth?

It could be a trap but I don't think so. Probably playing it safe and protecting the East Coast of Australia.

Happy days now in Western Oz. In between bombing a few cities it is time to fish for Marlin

Big mistake to give up this opportunity!

Allies continue to be very quiet- about 8 days now.

Very unusual- is Lowpe finally folding his hand and cutting his losses.

Logistical, the Allies pulling out of Western Australia is a godsend. This turn the first bombs hit Perth.

I have flexibility and options again here.

Mopping up in Burma and thinking about India.

Looks like he wants to fight at Chittagong. I can see a round 3 in the near future over this hex.

Stalemate on the East Coast.

Suits me just fine for the moment. Bombings are starting to finally ramp up on the easy targets.

Scoreboard

I sense he is breaking which is good because logisitically I was shot. Out of fuel and ammo everywhere in just about all theatres except China. I was about to halt operations for a week to consolidate and re-group but now......

I will extend aerial search on all my recently seized bases (using Betties mostly) to avoid nasty surprises but I am fairly certain the US CVs have to be around Pearl after their recent near visit to the Home Islands.

The chips are on the table and with just under two months left to go with the amphib bonus, its time to double down. It will take about two weeks to assemble the last hurrah.

Now for the weekly update :-)

Turn rate has been sporadic this week as Lowpe deals with plenty on his plate and is also getting hit by ferocious weather.

Snow and ice is such a foreign concept for me (and most Australians) to grasp. I am just about in a t-shirt all year long (occasionally at night a jumper is required in QLD, significantly colder down south like Melbourne) so I have no idea the grief the recent weather event is causing Nth America.

Anyway morning in Southern QLD- hot and humid

Find a place with a walk in freezer, set the freezer to -30 degrees, put a fan in there, turn the fan on high, now stand in front of it.

Back to the war.

China- the Allies are in a lot of trouble here and the possibilities/opportunities for the Empire are growing by the day.

Kweilin looks to be the key. The second deliberate attack was solid. A shock attack will follow in the couple of turns which should rout the Chinese. After that, based on recon, not too much in the path to stop or slow me down. I think the majority of his combat power is scrambling back from Northern China.

*100k of Chinese troops now trapped at Changsha. I might just leave them there

Southern Pacific.

Almost finished here. Found another little outpost built up to airfield 2 which I am keen to take out.

The 4th Brigade has been very busy- Baker, Canton, Noumea, Pago and Fiji. All this after a pretty rough start thanks to one of Lowpe's famous naval ambushes which saw about 30 squads attempting to qualify for the Olympic games 1500m swim with full combat loads. Never going to end well.

It was bought out from Manchuria.

Lowpe sees the fleets heading towards the next target but I am guessing/ hoping his ability to interfere the next assault is very limited. Plus he has lost track of KB.

Burma/ India

Quiet here but not by design. If I had the troops available and the required air cover I would be on my way to Bombay.

When I come back to India it will be with a lot more than 1 division. Now just have to find them.

DEI

The Dutch continue to die hard in their solitary remaining outpost.

About 18 units stuck in the mountains and refusing to surrender. Very close now, the last shock attack was 2:1.

I need the IJA units engaged to be elsewhere before the amphib bonus runs out.
