I'm getting a crash on the loading screen (where the bar fills at the bottom of the screen) after the initial video. I've installed using the default settings, uninstalled and installed again, and still get the same issue. I've attached my DxDiag, and .NET was installed during the installation process. Many thanks for any help you can provide.

Can you please try to :

1. Start the game
2. Press "Editor"
3. Press "Load Generic Data" on the bottom

You should see "Generic Data Loaded" on the top.

4. Press "Go to The Map" on the bottom.

1. Did you also allow DirectX 9 to install during the installation?

2. Please try the below:

Just to check, can you please try this:

Windows Media Player in Windows 10

To proceed with this method, right-click Start, select ‘Control Panel’ > ‘Programs’ > ‘Programs & Features’ and then click on ‘Turn Windows Features On or Off’.

Apps and Features. Click “Turn Windows features on or off”. Expand Media Features and check the box marked against ‘Windows Media Player’ and click OK.

3. Please also try going to your installation folder and double-clicking on the WarInTheEast2 application file directly (bypassing the game menu on the desktop shortcut) to see if that makes any difference.

Thanks zakblood. Now with the DxDiag proper (I hope).

User DPI Setting: 240 DPI (250 percent)
System DPI Setting: 240 DPI (250 percent)

Can you try to lower scale (DPI setting)?

As a test could you please try:

1. Running with a lower DPI setting and then if that doesn't help
2. Running at a lower desktop resolution

Curious to know if either makes a difference for you.

And thanks Erik for your reply. Windows Media Player is checked, and I've tried running the application directly, and still have the same crash. It occurs after the video plays (so I'm guessing it's not a Windows Media Player issue) as the loading bar fills. Thanks again.

Erik, that worked!
I was on 3850 x 3160 and changed to 2048 x 1152 and it runs fine now.
Thank you so much for your help.

Please also try this and see if you can go back to your full resolution without issues:

As reported in the other thread, the fix in https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4987629 works for me with my original settings. Thanks
