1. Playing BTR for the Luftwaffe I face a problem while trying to attack escorted bomber formation. I target the escort with my light fighters whereas heavy fighters attack the bombers. However any fighter attacks the first enemy aircraft it meets, no matter of its type. So light fighters often attack bombers and heavies engage the escorts, both cases are true disaster. Is it possible to order the interceptors to attack ONLY the targeted type of enemy planes?

2. In reality the Germans since mid-1943 faced fuel shortages and pilot training courses suffered the most. Would be nice to control the proportion of fuel for combat units versus fuel for pilot schools and thus model the trade-off between avgas+time and pilot quality+quantity.

There is no guarantee that the interceptors will always follow the doctrine that you set for them. I think it would be unrealistic to force it completely (pilots will tend to do whatever actions will not get them killed at the moment) but maybe we can increase the chances that they do follow the doctrine. Try setting patrols with different doctrines and time their interception to first force the escorts to break away, and then release the heavy fighters against the bombers.

First of all a great thanks for the new patch, then two questions:
1) Given the presence of many German "what if" aircraft like the Ta 152, the Ta 184, the Go 229 or the Do 335, I wonder if it is not possible to insert the B-29 inside the Allied Oob like in the Turner's Focke-Wulf mod. I think it would be very interesting to see the Superfortress clash with the new German planes
2) I'm playing an Eagle Day 1941 campaign. It's the 15th turn and I noticed that a couple of days ago at the Baginton airport, appeared the 308th Polish Squadron which, according to the OOB, should arrive in 39 days
Best regards

1 No can do due to limitations that I agreed to with Matrix before this party got started.

2 Send me or preferably simovitch a saved game before it showed up and after, if possible.

It is a sad thing to know about these limitations, but if these are the agreements there is nothing to be done, perhaps, one day, someone will make a new mod with the B-29. Regarding the saved game I have only the 15th turn, but I don't know how to send it to you or Simovitch, sorry, but I'm a little clumsy. The 308th was completely operational and I used it in the 14th turn, then I checked the Oob and by pure chance I noticed that it should have arrived a lot later.
Best regards

Figured out the problem. 308 is at Baglinton and there should not be a delay. Also it is assigned to 11 Group and should be with 12 Group. I have made the changes. So well done Mappo, that was a good catch.

The weather.
There are a few areas to look at
1) wind direction. Currently it is NW to SE. Prevailing winds in Europe are WSW to ENE. In winter and early spring occasionally North winds or east winds.
2) weather forecast. There is currently none. The allies put huge resources into this, they got good at it. Game has nothing.
3) Historically the weather in winter of 43 was much better than current campaign 43 allows. Maybe this could be looked at.
4) glitches! Sometimes if there is no aircraft flying the clouds reset. Gaps dissappear this plays havoc w mission planning. Seems to be a programming issue. Doesn't happen a lot but when it does it destroys gameplay.

First of all Thanks Guys for bring this game back to life and i agree with a lot of the ideas here.
I also would like to add a couple myself:-

(1) The Marauder Bomber was in service with 14 Squadron from July 42 could we inculde this unit? Most of the other units using this Aircraft were either in the SAAF, free French ot USAAF. Its a personal favorite Aircraft so i understand if it can't be done.

(2) Drop tanks for the P-47D-6 after reading Jerry Scutts book P-47 Thunderbolt (the operational Record). It appears this aircraft could use either the 75Gal 108Gal 110Gal or 150Gal on a centre station. I wonder could we be given a selection of drop tank choices? To ofset this this book also states that only 450 tanks had been delivered by 12th October 1943 but by December this more like 18,000. I suggest we forget 200Gal tank used by the P-47 as it was unpressurised and leaked badly or only transfered fuel correctly below 20,000ft. I know that later models of the P-47 could carry up to three drop tanks so this may make it harder to program but its just an idea.

(3) Same as above but try to do the same for the P-39 75Gal Drop tank and the P-40 not sure of Drop tank size. Also repeat for axis forces where possible.

(4) In the pilot menu could we please be aloud to select which pilots can be assign to fly the next mission.

(5) Replace pilot pool much the same as in WITPAE.

That will do me.

Thanks for your time.

I think an increase in the number of mission would be good. I'm always running up against the mission limit. Particularly in months where I only get 1-2 good bombing days a week.
Another thing I'd find really useful is numbers on replacement aircraft for the allies each day since it seems to change over time.

1 - 14 Squadron transferred to Coastal Command in 1945, so that is the reason it is not in the OOB.

2+3 - Been to that fight with WitW. Not going to touch it.

4 - I like the idea but, isn't the game enough of a clickfest for you already? Simovich will have to speak to this issue for do-ability.

5 - Never played the game, so I have no idea what that is all about. In general, the team is happy with the situation as it is.

Mission number is something we have kicked around, but for now we're good.

Depending on the a/c, the production numbers do change. Check the editor for that.

Ok Thank you for your reply. I do have one more idea i would like to put forward and its this. At the moment when a pilot is shot down over europe he is either killed, Missing (Pow). How about if he becomes a POW that there is a 1% chance that he can escape and return to your ranks. Ok with that i will call it a day.

Many thanks again team.

MJT

There is a chance that the pilot shoot down over Europe is rescued, and returned.

I totally agree with this remark, the weather conditions are much too distorted compared to the reality of the time and it modifies much too much the historical aspect of this otherwise exceptional simulation.

Just a small remark, would it be possible to make the "Artificial Intelligence" less artificial or more intelligent and stop launching raids on unrecognized targets while I spend my time doing reconnaissance on industrial targets !!!!!

February 1944 is a very difficult period for the Allies !

Hello to all,

About "BTR", a small mistake concerning an airfield : "307 - FREJORGU - x,y 326-848" was called FREJORGUES (43,58° N/ 3,96°E) and was used by the Lufwaffe as an airfield for torpedo planes and then for some, very few, night fighters until the invasion of Provence.

Better fog of war if possible

The Axis should not be informed of allied planes crashing in England, south Italy and Africa, and the Alied should not be informed of axis planes crashing in axis territory on their way back to their airfields if there is no nearby allied units.

Less overclaiming for the axis in the BTR action reports, 99% of the action takes place over axis controlled land and they where fairly able to count the wrecks. In BoB thoug more combat occur over sea which make big overclaiming more reasonable.

Be able to change the unit commander

I have several units whos commander have been wounded and sometimes replaced with some low ranking dumbass with 55-59 inspiation, and those guys is still leading the unit even after the wounded Major or Colonel has returned.

At least the highest ranking pilot should automaticly become the commander.

Some names on radar stations on the map that should be corrected.

Radarstations with german city names located i Denmark:

Old name/Loc/New Name
Peenemunde radar 970,110 = Bornholm
Barth radar 870,110 = Moen
Marienehe radar 846,128 = Nykobing
Travemunde radar 814,115 = Nakskov
Schleswig radar 782,112 = Risemark
Kiel radar 803,83 = Nyborg
Flensburg radar 780,64 = Fredericia
Stralsund radar 875,69 = Copenhagen
Rostock radar 848,86 = Naestved

...and some misplaced radarstation names in Germany

Greifswald radar 893,148 = Schaprode
Swinemunde radar 913,178 = Wolgast
Leck radar 739,100 = Flensburg
Neubrandenburg radar 946,199 = Wollin

Yes, we took great pains to ensure that your saves from the last official patch (1.06.05) will be compatible. Anything before 1.06 will not work.

I have a doubt concerning the distances that are imposed to the various raids (reco, straffing, bombing) ... I have checked several times on the Mediterranean Theater (MTO) and the A.I. NEVER respects the imposed distances.

For example if I declare that the "Sweeps" operations (12th AF) must not be done at more than 100/150 or 200 kms the AI does not take it into account and launches a raid on "FREJORGU" which is at 285 miles (equals 485 kms) ...

This damned AI does not listen to anything, bad that, very bad !!!

I don't know if it is possible and interesting for all the players but I would like to see the possibility to see the "paths" for the different planned operations rather than all the operations like : Show Paths = [Ctrl + R]

"Bombers Paths" = [Ctrl + B]
"Recos Paths" = [Ctrl + R]
"Sweeps Paths" = [Ctrl + S]
"Night Bombers Paths" = [Ctrl + N]
"Nignt Intruders Paths" = [Ctrl + I]

Good idea, these are easy to change. I changed the "raid spotted" message to level 3 for 1.06.xx. Any other suggestions for message level filtering?
