Crashes every big game - 5/19/2021 11:46:28 PM

Status: offline 		Waive only had it for a few days but it crashes before the end of every turn- after the AI goes- but before I finish my part of the turn.

This did not happen with the Okinawa scenario, but did with the 1941 and 1942 scenarios.

Does anyone else have this issue?

Do the game to where it crashes
Go to that folder location and copy paste what is in that file here.

Does the game crash like it starts then literally crashes like closes? Or does the lock up?

Status: offline 		Can you give me the specs on your PC?

In windows 10 go to the lower left where you see the spyglass and can enter text for a search

type - msinfo and hit enter

When that program comes up hold down left mouse button and move mouse to capture the text on the right side.
Control-C to copy the text
Control-V to paste it here and post it on this thread.

You can also try uninstall and reinstall. What is happening to you is very odd. So far 99.9% of the time if the game gets stuck it is something on my end.
But if it plays and just crashes and closes on it's own that is a PC issue.

So please define crash? Does it just dump and closes or does it hangs?

Status: offline 		So... when I say crash, I start the game (1942), and the AI does its thing. Then I just try to orient myself to the world, look around, check the charts (I am not familiar with WP: Europe, so it is all new), start changing some research options, check more reports, and then I get a little window that says something that I have been too slow to read, and the game quits, and the monitor goes back to my desktop. FWIW, the saved game is the last attempt at Okinawa, so the game does not seem to recognize we tried a different scenario. I suppose that fits in the category of "if it plays and crashes on its own that is a PC issue" issue-

I can find two users files, but neither contains an AppData folder.

If I go to the Program Files (x86) folder, there is a Matrix Games folder that contains the WarPlan Pacific files, if that helps.

Could be security is crashing program. Put it on the safe list of apps with whatever AV/security you have.

Assuming you have this installed on your default location
C:\Program Files (x86)\Matrix\WarPlan Pacific\WarPlan Pacific.exe (right click) -> properties -> Advanced -> toggle on Run as Administrator -> ok -> ok

Check your DirectX
Windows 10 - lower left corner search -> dxdiag -> Enter -> 1st page should tell you the version. Should be DirectX 11 or higher.

Last that I can think of is this. Installer maybe was corrupt on download.
Uninstall the game then GO TO... should be here assuming you didn't change the install directory
C:\Program Files (x86)\Matrix\ and delete the game folder
C:\Users\"your user name"\Documents\My Games -> delete game folder
##### IF YOU HAVE SAVED GAMES GRAB THEM FROM THE SAVED GAME DIRECTORY
##### IF YOU HAVE MODS GRAB THEM FROM THE SCENARIO DIRECTORY

Go to the Matrix Website and Login -> My Page -> download a fresh warplan pacific installer.
Reboot the PC.
Turn off security/AV software
Reinstall.

The things I am telling you to do is what I have done in these situations which are rare.

And you are very welcome. I have been where you are with games. One just doesn't work for whatever reason. When I was working I.T. on occasion what would happen is that some other program would update, change a shared dynamic link library and botch another app. Those situations are so incredibly hard to figure out.

Let me know how that goes. Are there any other games that give you issues like this? WarPlan series is not graphic intensive at all. I made it that way.
