Updates coming later this afternoon. I am on turn 7 and turn 7 updates will be posted in full once the turn is sent to Jubjub. He is free to use the information I post.

Again the objectives I am after are;

* 100% after the Soviet Army. By turn 25 I want ~3,000,000 to 4,000,000 Soviet Casualties at a minimum
* Moscow is the Main City objective (achieving #1 above makes this easier along with the rest of the map)
* Making a robust redundant rail line (this has priority over advancing(except Moscow area)
* Linking level 2 rail yards to redundant rail line
* Other City VP's

I looked at the turn for hours last night not moving a damn thing, lol. Anyone else every do this?

I can't IMAGINE what it would be like to load up the game intending to actually move units and play, but then ending up only looking at the commander's report and the graphs showing how many tanks/planes/etc I have lost. Nope, never done that. Never. Never, I say! You gotta believe me!

It's usually correlated to MP server issues, so I try not to upload turns until the forums get back to normal..

I was playing yesterday and did quite a few loads and saves during the moves with no problems. I always do a save if am away from the game for a while, partly for safety and partly because the game takes up so much CPU.
However the Forum is very slow and often timing out, it seems to have deteriorated a lot recently. The Slitherine Forum is faster than Matrix for some reason.

Thanks all for the answers on the Server issue. I found that the game server was fine but the Matrix site only was having the Gateway 504 issue. Pretty easy to correct if they ever get anyone on it :(

Turn 7 Beginning of Turn (Real Time Turn update)

Events!!!

Partisans on the move in Belorussia, even though I got that report last turn for turn 6. Now it doesn't show up on turn 6 but instead shows up on Turn 7. NOW on turn 6 I see the Soviets take a hit on not meeting garrison requirements. Trickys!

Turn 7 Beginning of Turn (Actual turn no delay)

Soviet Garrison

My current status of the Soviet Garrison. I sent some extra Rumanian units. This turn I send some bombers to the Soviet Garrison to see if any effect is noted and will be there next turn.

Please note that if you are playing Germany at the moment with Enhanced TB on that if you send your minor nations Air(don't know ground units yet) to reserves that the only option I can see is to send them to Soviet Garrison. These air units have been there a few turns so something just doesn't look right or I missed something in the manual. But as you can see here this Hungarian units only transfer option is to Soviet Garrison. This is the same for Rumanian air units I have there too.

Soviets decide to bomb the Air Field at Odessa. The Rumanians rise to the occasion only to get mauled in Air-to-Air combat. All losses were A2A losses, no OPS losses at all.

With a trained replacement rate of 3 for Rumania these losses hurt big time. These Squadrons will take 14 turns to replace with trained pilots :(

At least no planes were destroyed on the ground in the attack. 19,000 altitude may be a bit high to be effective on AF bombing ;-)

Soviet bombing intensified near VL. Looks like Jubjub took M60's advice and continues the bombing. I don't think it was the right choice but whatever, please continue. All my units are within 2 hexes of the front so you can figure out what the Soviet is doing here. I let AA takes its toll and don't commit my AF to this yet.

Air Losses

Besides the one mauling the Soviet game me at Odessa the rest of the Soviet losses are self inflicted by their bombing campaign. I will get my AA net in place in a few turns like I did in WITE1 so should see even more downed Soviet planes in the turns to come if the bombing continues.

Turn 7 Beginning of Turn (No Delay)

This picture is from Turn 6 North East of Odessa. I converted the hexes and retreated to a straight line. I know that Jubjub is very aggressive so maybe something will be tried again so I have the hexes as a sort of blocker. I also stack the Rumanian Guards and 2 other Rumanin Divisions. See what happens turn 7. (suffice to say I have played against many other aggressive Soviets, it is a fun cat and mouse game, but who is the mouse and who is the cat ;-P )

Here are the converted hexes. Please note that the converted hexes go right up to the 1st Rumanian Guards and no attack :) Guess the 40 defense was a bit much to attack ;-) Mission accomplished there. BUT, can those Soviet units get away that tried to inflitrate? That is the question. Recon reveals the culprits and payback?.... Well you will see.

Turn 7 Ground Phase (No Delay)

I found two Cav that was left out front which may or may not have been the culprits. Being Soviet they are guilty so lets go to the punishment phase. I quickly realize I can get the CAV closet to me if that Cav division is strong. So I go and test the waters.

I bring up a Moto brigade to test the first Cav unit behind the CAV unit in front and get a retreat shown in Orange. This way I can push that CAV division further into those hexes the Soviets converted last turn, hopefully. I have Ground support turned on to start fishing for Soviet Fighters. Soviet fighters rise to the occasion.

Turn 7 Ground Phase (No Delay)

I test the forward Soviet Cav Division with an attack from the Moto regiment. RUT ROH I get a scouted result and will need a bigger unit other than the regiment to move. The Soviet Cav division turned out to be a BIG one in the front !!! We are going fishing boyz! I set up the Rumanins for the catch, hoping it just doesn't route. It shouldnt but you never know in 41.

Soviets fighters rise to the occasion again and I lose 3 fighters, 2 to operational losses. The Soviet fighter farming is going well so far.

Turn 7 Ground Phase (No Delay)

To move this Soviet Cav Division to the South East I bring up the 9 PZ Division, which has been resting & refitting for two turns, to force a retreat. The attack succeeds but the Soviet Cav division did not go to the furthest hex yet that I want it to go. I will chance another attack on the Cav Division to try and get it into position.

Again the Soviet Fighters come out to play. I lose 1 fighter to Operation lose.

***Sorry delving deep into this attack, I enjoy stupid attacks like this ;-)

Turn 7 Ground Phase (No Delay

Finally finish with an attack by a Rumanian Regiment. I didn't want anything larger than one regiment because of size for the attack. Should be enough to move. If it doesn't I will just set up defense here, if it move great. It does move!!! Fishing done.

All that work for 2,407 men but it was FUN! Always love seeing if I can do things like that.

Turn 7 Ground Phase (No Delay)

The setup

Haven't tried this in awhile but going to give it a try.

1st = Most of 3rd Moto Corps was rested turn 6 (Circled in orange)
2nd = put key Infantry in place (Circled in Yellow)
3rd = Deliberate Attack across river East Kiev using Inf & Motorized Division. (red arrow on right)
4th = Deliberate Attack North of Kiev swamp hex (red arrow on left)
5th = surround Kiev
6th = Hope to have Kiev on loan to Soviets for a turn and payment looks to be two Soviet Rifle Divisions if all go well. Being pretty rested I am confident.

Here we go.

Jubjub has multi units on other parts of the river. I wanted Kiev fast so went straight for it to try and capture units. I am all about getting as many surrounded units as I can. As I am getting ready to show in the next pictures.

Circled in white is a ZOC effect over this Soviet Rifle Division. My intent is to do this all up and down the whole line. With Mobile forces pretty much in place all up and down the whole soviet line it is only a matter of time before I get more fish from phishing for Soviet units :) This is one & there are more. Tic Toc

Here is another I have in ZOC for the extra MP's to move out of. Most Mobile units behind line rested this turn with a couple forcing a river crossing further north (next photo). I am pushing the whole map. Granted a bit slow but still pushing non-the-less.
