The German corps and Sowjet armmy commanders have the most importantbrole since they lead the battles. Have you ever thought about giving the higher commanders a bigger role? E.g. they could keadbig battles with 100.000+ men.

Or they could be making sure that the depots supplying those men are working properly and high efficiency while directing the Support Units, replacements, and new units into the proper locations for the Corps HQs to use.

I agree that it would be nice to have them play a more important role in leader rolls. I think in its current command form the player is heavily incentivized to keep his best commanders at the lowest level (Corps/Army for Soviets), which I dont think really reflects reality.

I agree with Xhoel here Xhoel here.

I'd not be against a rework of the Command Chain where a bigger dice is used (ie. D20) and that each roll level has a 'sum' of the variety of leaders in the chain. (100% of Lowest-Tier + 50% of Next Tier + 25% of any other Next Tier).

That nets a general benefit to Axis, a bit more tangible.

EDIT: Clarification Math of how I'd do it.

Presently it works like "GCorps SArmy HQ" with skill 6 the roll is on 10, 1-6 it passes, 7-10 it fails. In case of failure, it hops to the GArmy / SFront level test" etc

How I'd envision it is that the first roll uses a D20 (or higher than 10), but the Test is Corps(Army)HQ-Rating@100% + Army(Front)HQ-Rating@50% + AG(Stavka)HQ-Rating@25% + OKH.HQ-Rating@25%.

So in the assumption all leaders have 6 Ratings...

Soviet 6 + 3 + 1.5 (That can round up or down ) = 10 or 11 on 20 (But leaders with skill 6 are considered good - and the 20 is a fictional number I determined)
Axis would be 6 + 3 + 1.5 + 1.5 = 12 on 20.

This way the whole preparation and leadership level is felt through the system. And the Germans are more efficient because they retain a better safety net in fase of failure.

Soviets have 100 Front + 50 Stavka.
Axis still retains 100 Army + 50 AG + 25 OKH.

It's akin of a matrioska system but I agree presently it is for the better to keep your 'Finest' leaders at the lowest level - but where it truly matters and the action is unfolding.

As someone else pointed out - Soviets have enough good leaders to use them where it matters too.
