Here I’m reposting a string of posts from 9/24/2017 that appeared on the Development Board (so I can’t just link that thread on this main board). These posts described the New Mud Rules that I had just developed. I should have reposted them at the launch period, but it got overlooked. Well, better late than never, as they say.

I sent my latest mod to Ralph.

This one optionally changes how mud and snow clear. First, snow now thaws to mud - to create the spring mud phase. Second, mud now dries proportional to temperature and turn interval. Cold doesn't dry at all; Cool dries 10% per week; Balmy dries 33% per week; Warm dries 67% per week; and Hot dries 100% per week. This will allow the fall mud phase to happen. Since this is a big change, I've made it optional as a Game Option. Adding that option required a new file number (146), with changes to the file logic.

Here's a shot of a test scenario that I made with all snow in every hex. I then set the temperature to "Cold". So, the snow will melt upon running the scenario. Before this mod (or if it is turned off) most hexes would then be clear.

Now, with the new rule active, you get this result:

I made another scenario will all hexes muddy. The temperature is "Cold". Under the old way, most would clear upon launch.

Now, none clear:

Same situation but changed the temperature to "Cool". When launched, 10% clear. Note that the turn interval is Full Week:

Now the temperature is "Hot". Almost all clear:

Note that this is how it worked for all temperatures and turn intervals before (or with the rule turned off).

But now I change the turn interval to "Six-Hour" (still Hot temp). Only 1/28th of the hexes clear:
