Nothing happened today.

Here is a screen shot of the South Pacific Area.
I realize it is large, but a smaller version is hard to see.
This is a 75% version, the 50% was hard to read.

As you can see, I still own Port Moresby and I expect to hold it forever.

I am moving forces slowly into Milne Bay

I hold Noumea, Efante, and Luganville with good forces, at least a division on each with
ARM and ART. And of course base forces.

Suva, Nadi, and Pago Pago are also strongly held.

At this time I am concentrating on building the forward bases and training my pilots.

The two base he holds in the Ellice Islands are not manned according to two recon flights done earlier. I will probably occupy them soon as soon as my CVs finish up their upgrades.

IME, bombs do an inordinate amount of damage to a sub, as opposed to a penetrating D/C hit. I doubt the bomb sank I-124 but it probably left her in precarious shape. Sometimes heavy damage seems to increase the chances of a sub being detected - more underwater noise emitted or more surface time - abstracted of course.

I am going to be doing a series of sit reps over the next few days to better show where I am and talk a bit about where I am going
Here we have PNG and the Solomon Islands ( plus New Briton and a few other islands )

I control Port Moresby with a sizeable force. He has not ever attacked.
I have control of Milne Bay. I have 2/3 of an Australian Infantry Division there
with construction troops and a BF. The base has 300 mines and two ACMs to support them/
I have a single Brigade at Buna with the Rabaul BF marching there.

Lae is showing 400 troops, Finschhafen is shown as empty, Gasmata 1640 troops, and even
Rabaul is only showing 3 units with 8000 troops. There are 11 fighters at Rabaul.
It appears that he has taken these bases but is not really defending them. I really do not
have the necessary forces to advance much more. I am leery of too far since I do not
know where KB is right now. I should also point out that there are no aux aircraft showing
at Rabaul.

He has taken a number of islands in the Solomon Island chain, but I have no idea at this time
if he has garrisoned them or not.

I plan on using FT to occupy Tagula Island and or Rossel Island in the future. That will
give me a base close enough to really recon the Solomon Islands.

Here is the South Pacific.

I hold the New Hebrides with the 1st Marine Division and other units. I do not expect to
lose it.

the same holds for Nouema, Efate, Nadi, Suva, and Pago Pago. All have at lease one Division
and other support troops. I am still building the Ports, Forts, and Airfields everywhere.
It is only the end of July and I do not have overwhelming numbers of Engineers yet. In a
few months that will change.

I have just sent off a force to retake Funafuti. It is showing as empty. My DS will be providing cover for this op. This will provide a more Northern PBY base.

One more for tonight - the Aleutian Islands.

Not a lot to talk about. I have a division at Umnak Island with a BF and EAB
I have a Canadian Brigade moving to Adak. I have not seen any activity in this area
at all.

The nice thing about having that extra 25 PPs per day is I can buy out things that I might not have
in other games, like the Canadian Brigades to help occupy the Aleutians.

Nothing much happened today.

I sent off 2 ACMs to Adak and a minelaying TF with 240 MK6 mines. That might slow him down if he invades.

I am getting the feeling more and more that he has decided to stop expanding and start digging in.

A dud:
Sub attack near Wakkanai at 124,48

Japanese Ships
PB Magan Maru
xAK Magane Maru
xAK Mikage Maru
PB Okuyo Maru #2

Allied Ships
SS Silverside
=============================
mines at Pago Pago
TF 145 encounters mine field at Pago Pago (148,161)

Allied Ships
DD Case
AK Titania, Mine hits 1, heavy damage

1 mine cleared

I love that line 1 mine cleared - is that a new one or the one she hit?

She has no fires, so should be ok, but it will be dicey to move her to a repair shipyard in the future.
She has 53 major flood damage.
=====================================================================

Funafuti was retaken today, I do not want to stay around long in case KB show up
I am not really ready to take on KB right now.

I think the mine hit counts as one cleared. You have two options for AK Titania - repair all the system damage and then island-hop to PH or bring in one of the floating drydock AORDs that you get in 1943. I think Titania can be upgraded to an AKA in 1943 so I would choose the first option to be able have her at a place where she can upgrade in June 1943.

Swept the mines at Pago Pago and Karachi.

All the troops are unloaded at Funafuti, there is still 2000 or so supply to unload.
I will give them another day, but the DS is leaving. There are no highly important
ships in the amphibious TF. No sign of KB and I moved PBYs in last turn.

I will try to island hop Titania after I get all the minor damage repaired.

Looks like a laden resource convoy, considering the location and the Y hex coordinate increasing (southbound).
Your subs are doing pretty good using the technology available in 1042!
