Can somebody enlighten the Supply base role .... and its function (regular/build/depleted) mostly used for ... and its connection with Action Points

If you've played Shadow Empire, it works similarly to the supply base in that game. When your supply pass through a supply base, your supply gain "free AP" to allow it to travel further. This free AP cannot be chained. Only the highest free AP will be used enroute. Supply base can also act as a supply source, so if your forces are cut off, you can still be supplied if there is a supply base nearby.

Regular: Focus on extending logistic range, does not stockpile additional supply from supply source.
Build up: Same as regular, but will request extra supply until stockpile is full.
Deplete: Does not extend logistic range, but act as a supply source to distribute inventory, use when you are cut off I guess. According to the manual:

mode on captured American supply bases to provide their panzer with much
needed extra fuel.

And

quote:

The third mode is deplete mode. In this mode the supply base will
provide zero free logistical AP to supply source logistics, but will itself
act as a mini supply source distributing its stocks to nearby units. This
is done before supply sources distribute supplies and fuel. The range is
limited, but adequate for units that are close by.

So I guess when you do deplete you can potential receive more the fuel and supply replenishment to recover heavily used unit faster. Maybe even reloads nebelwerfer faster?

Tks for the enlightment.
I notice to when hit supply button there are description of each unit free AP. I hope to find this to be described in manual in depth but cant find it - furthermore hope to find proper supply base deployment (as per how many hexes covered - what is best distance between each supply base - etc etc)
